StuffITall IM is kind of an obvious project to explain...

The most exciting bit is that I have been coding a network for SIM and it's really simple to use. I could even release a DLL so that other people could include the functionality in their own apps and games.

SIM will be the first network that will allow people to connect to it using a simple DLL and calling one or two procedures out of the box. It's designed to allow people to build it into their games without any extra software.

This is how a command is sent to the server:

<Connect [NICK] [PASS] [STATUS ID] [MOOD ID]>

And now some screenshots:

As you can see there is still a lot of work to be done, but the most basic stuff is in there.

This was how the contact list file which the server sends out to clients looked as of yesterday, it now includes the user's status and mood IDs. Obviously the actual file does not include the colour coding.

I plan to offer a DLL so that people can connect to the SIM network from any software that they write.

This means that gamers will have access to their contact lists and will be able to talk in specific chat rooms for the game they are playing.

It also means that people can chat to their regular contacts within games without having to switch back to their desktop.

Of course I would have to charge for the DLL as it's going to cost me a small fortune to run the server, but I could give it away free with the websites that I sell.
