Hey guys, in here I am just gonna show some of my models and levels. Most of my models are weapons. All of my work is done in milkshape. BTW, I cannot texture, I would like someone to help. But whatever, here are some screenies.

M249 SAW (WIP)

Comments would be nice, thanx.

Wow... those are nice... But I really know nothing about Milkshape so I have no idea about how to text them... you should try a google search.

Nice work though. Let me know when you get it finished and I might DL it for my FPSC.

A good thing to do is a google search for milkshape tutorials by scarecrow. They taught me to model, skin and animate. The best and easiest to understand tuts I've ever read. They should be located somewhere on pollycount. I suggest these because if you ask 5 modelers how to skin, more than likely you will get 5 completely different methods. Basic skinning is there and after understanding it you may come up with your own special method.

lol!
I have 2 questions, do models have to be textured to show up in fpsc? And do they have to be animated?

Thanx in advance.

The SAW's ammo case needs to be rotated 90 degrees. It doesn't sit like that; it sits under the area you have it attached to. It looks a bit more like this.

I see you found the tut's. Great skinning job on the knife. To answer your other question, technically no, but it will be motionless and solid white, or it may just crash.

I know, I was not really working on that part yet, I just wanted to see how the bullets would look and see how many polys it took up. That is why I said it is a WIP, thanks though.

Instead of doing the bullets as individual cylinders, have you thought about making an elongated, and bent cube primitive with a nice texture of an ammo belt between the ammo case and the reciever? That might save on polys.

I have three questions, What is a good poly limit for FPSC ,how would a reload animation look for the SAW, and how would I make the ammo belt look like an endless belt? Thanx guys.

If you could make some kind of animated decal on the belt part of the model, and import one of the larger weapons from FPSCreator to check out it's poly count. I could tell you how to properly load the SAW later when I have time (the SAW was my weapon for around 5 years in the Army).

Id go with 200-400 polys, any thing over 1000 needs working on. Infact, any thing that goes over 600 needs a little work.

200-400 polys might be a bit on the low side. Looking at some of the default FPSC weapons, the Mossberg has just under 1000 polys, the MAS-36 has just over 3200 , the Autoslug has nearly 1000, and the Colt 45 has 600.

I'd suggest about 600-800 for a pistol, 800-1200 for a rifle

That is good news because most of my weapons are under 1200. Thanks for that. It sucks because I cannot get weapons into into fpsc. Do you think I could get them in with just these filles:

1.HUD.x

2.All sounds

3.crosshair.dds

4.gunspec.txt

Thanx in advance.
