is there any way to create & texture an object in darkbasic and save it to disk for later use ?

perhaps convert it to a static object, then use
save static objects

I've never used the command but it sounds like it might do what you want...

Have tried saving static objects but am unable to detach the object from static when reloading the static objects (I get an "object doesn't exist" error), I'm interested in writing a tree generator and a couple of other utilites and the make memblock from mesh/make mesh from memblock commands only save the vertice data not textures that have been mapped....considering working with .x files in ascii format but that will be a lot less covenient then simply creating/altering the objects via dark basics intrinsic commands and saving

You could save the memblock(s) of the mesh(es), and then have your own special file format (no strings) that describes what textures to load, and how to map them, and what meshes should be attached as limbs and where.
