Hello everyone. I had this question which I extract from a competition online application form. But I do not know how and where to make research on it! I never really study marketing subject before. Any help please!

Just assume my game is similar to Diablo 2 game play.

What is the market for your product?
Tip: This is a really important section. You should describe your target market (who you are aiming the product at), who will buy it etc, remembering to justify your choice. Show that you have done some research by including some facts and figures and ideas of how you would get the product to market?

I not really know how to start with?

Oh my, If i face this question in future, how am I suppose to answer it? Please help!

Thank you.

Regards,
Chua Wen Ching :p

Diablo 2 is an RPG and therefor appeals heavily to the RPG community. What is the RPG community? Ask Gary Gyjax... except possibly he's too drugged up to answer.

The largest cross section of your playerbase is likely to include people who have played or regularly play paper based role playing games.

This is a known market with the largest cross section being of 20-30 year old males. This matches up nicely with the largest cross section of players who buy games, ie. 20-30 year old males.

For this reason it is imperative that the heroins in your game have huge and well animated busts.

LOL, do you want to tell him, PneumaticDryll, or should I?

Am I a butterfly dreaming I'm a man?
Or a bowling ball dreaming I'm a plate of samishi?

ROFLMAO, no!
LOL, he's the father of RPGs. He made Chainmail, which was the begining of Dungeons and Dragons.

Chainmail actually means in full English - chain chain.

There's a whole story to Gary Gyjax and i'm sure drugs must have been a large part of it to conceive D&D.

Anyway the jist of it is D&D fired him because he wanted to take the game in a different direction, so he started out on his own.

Although Gary then went bankrupt the games we play today are very much influenced by the new direction he took, so it seems that no matter what you do with an RPG - it's Gary Gyjax you have to thank. He did it first - only wierder.
