Okie....a few days ago I was playing BF1942 Forgotten Hope mod..
It ran fine like 60fps + and it was good....
Then one night....which was a few days ago..the game decided to crash my computer...
I restarted my computer and when it was turning on it said on the BIOS Overclocking failed...Now my GFX card which is a Geforce 6800 wasnt being overclocked...now when I run BF1942 FH mod It runs and loads like normal...when iam in it...in alot of areas now the game is very hard to play...at times the games drops to about 5 fps and and averages now at about 10-15 fps....which really sucks...SO someone told me to uninstall BF1942 and FH so which I Did...and installed it...and reinstalled FH...now I also Defraged my computer which someone suggest...EA is crap now BF1942 doesnt work all the way..and when I do run FH singleplayer I still have the same problem...also I patched BF2 and now that is screwed too...but I want to know if the problem is my GFX card or is it something else?
I dont think my 6800 is damaged because my DBpro games still run at the same pace as they did before.....so I really want to know how and if I can fix this.......

It sounds like it WAS being overclocked. My new motherboard has built in Overclocking. I don't know how it works, but it is supposed to be safe overclocking. I think it runs at a cool level or something. Anyhow, it seems to me that your motherboard has turned yours off, maybe because your graphic card was getting hot. I don't think there is much you can do about it, apart from get a few fans fitted.

Has BF1942 enabled it's own safe mode or something? If it crashed, it has probably turned down it's graphic settings, to prevent it happening again.

@ John Y: thats a good guess John Y, if Unreal or Halflife crash they often drop back to software rendering, @ Oneka: check the settings and see if you still have the hardware rendering enabled, other than that, some commercial card makers overclock the chips to claim higher performance, they also use none standard GFX card drivers, try downloading the official Nvidia driver and see if that cures things, the framerates you mention make me think you have dropped back to software rendering, any 3D acceleration at all should give you better than that, even on grotty chipsets like Intel onboard ones .

Um...and how do I change this? I swear I saw a place where you could do it...but I guess I forgot or it didnt exist....also...in the option section of BF1942 it doesnt let you change from software to hardware....

I don`t have BF1942 so I don`t know, it could be the settings stayed behind when you removed the game, with games often the un-installer leaves the game folder behind with a settings file in it and any saved games you had, maybe if you remove the game again, then find the folder in "program files" and remove that and then re-install (but save any old games to another location 1st), other than that you could try something like 3dmark, but since other stuff runs at full speed it seems your install is ok, so maybe the crash broke something?, you could try system restoring back to a while back, other than that I am not sure, as for altering the drivers, the cards drivers should be in add/remove programs, failing that just try to install the Nvidia driver over the old one, I have done that once or twice accidentaly and it doesn`t seem to hurt anything (although removing the old driver and rebooting is recomended by Nvidia...and they should know better than me).
