I'm just wondering, since i'm poor, and I just want to play around for the next month i'm home. I want an alternitive to FLASH video making.
I used the Macromedia Flash program quite a bit in school, and I really really liked it. and now i want to play around a bit with something like it.
I don't care if it requires some random runtime that no one has or anything, because i just want to do this for a little bit of fun, i won't be doing anything major.

anyone know of a FREE alternative to FLASH, or something like it (keyframes are the sameish, have the different objects, and stuff)
I don't want to use Blender or Maya PLE because that would require a lot of work to get to the point where i can actually MAKE something and feel acomplished.
And i COULD do movies, but, i don't have any software for that. If anyone knows of a FREE program where i can play with 'green-screens' and add my own little things to it and such, that would be super.

i just want something a little bit different from every day programming, just to have as a little side hobby, until i leave in a month.

You can tool around with the public beta of Microsoft Expression Interactive Design suite, but beware you may need a PIV to get it to run properly.

Apparently it includes their "Sparkle" package which is supposed to be a Flash killer.

Thanks Jeku. Didn't expect some GOOD feedback on this request, in all honesty, I almost didn't ask.

I remember reading about this, and looking a screenshots before, and then i completely forgot about it thanks

But i'm still open for more suggestions.

btw: Jeku, that LunarPages place you switched to looks AWESOME, I think i might get my dad to get it. He's been backing up files on his comcast account, and just found that he has a very low limit (25mb!) I belive he wouldn't mind paying an extra $8/mo for 5000mb

Have you thought about making stop-motion/clay mation films? I dabbled in it a few months ago and all I needed was my eye toy with the webcam drivers and a freeware app called monkey jam. You can have your first film in less than half an hour, it'll probably be quite simple and the quality might not be up to much but you've got something to show people for minimal cost. Once you start working on longer shorts (longer shorts???) I'm guessing you'd get a real sense of achievement at the end of it all.

You don't even need to make your own clay models if you know where you can get some lego figures. As childish as playing with lego may sound, some of the films on http://www.brickfilms.com/ are pretty good, and what's life come to if you can't be childish every once in a while.

If I could only find a good, alternative freeware app to monekyjam for my ibook there'd be no stopping me.

EDIT:: Then again, istopmotion is only 25 beans (approx $->£) *gets EXTREMELY tempted*

I AM A MORON
and won't change my sig until I get off my oversized behind and finish a project.

soapyfish, that's actually a pretty good idea....

and i could just do it with my digital camera, tripod, and this program Jeku showed me... only problem with a camera like that is the lighting can change depending on how the camera decides to auto change... BUT i'll try it

Quote: "which is supposed to be a Flash killer."

which, so far, it is and integrating C# with it... *drools*
that'll KILL flash's horrible scripting language

all they have to do is put it out at a reasonable price... *laughs at himself for even HOPING ms would do something like that*

is this MS program thingy IDE made with it's self? because the gui seems like it is, and you can load the welcome screen and everything. That would be cool if it was, just to show what this program can do...

It is I just did the switch over the weekend, and everything went great. My blog was a casualty because I was too lazy to do a proper upgrade, but instead I created a fresh one.

The transfer speeds are SOO fast, and everything just--- works. Plus I love that they have a toll-free tech support line
