hmm, I wonder how often this sort of thing happens and what affect it has on MS sales (not a lot I would have thought tbh), the ATM`s at my bank often have NT errors showing on one machine or another, bad IT dept or bad OS?.

Windows: 32 bit extension/graphical shell for a 16bit patch to an 8bit OS originally coded for a 4bit CPU, written by a 2bit company that can't stand 1bit of competition, now available in 64bits.

I'm surprised things like that aren't more common.

I often see the crashed ATM's, but really, if they're gonna use a PC for this stuff then at least use a secure and stable OS, these things have to be able to run for months without a problem.

More a case of ''surely it'll be cheaper to use old PC's in the ATM's, and I heard NT is really good, let's just mangle a system together from parts bought from ebay - when people wonder why it costs millions to develop we'll just tell them it kept chewing up 20's''

Well, at least it's not a blue screen or the windows loading screen. The operator can just restart the application.

The train status system at Newstreet, Birmingham, UK runs on Windows 2000. I've often seen blue screens and out of memory errors shown, good job I know what station to wait on

lol, thats pretty wierd, never seen something like that, closest to it is when they get some error message in the church computer that generates what to send to the screens. (Lukas, think you could check the PoPR forums please )

Well, off to school *sigh*

If an atm gets a blue screen of death, and spits out 100 dollar bills, are you breaking the law if you pick some up?

Remember seeing a report a few months ago about an atm that gave out double the amount entered. People were drawing out all the money in their account and getting it doubled instantly. Don't know what happened afterwards but the bank pointed out that they knew who had used the machine and asked for the money back.
