!PLEASE READ BEFORE DOWNLOADING!
This level is dedicated to my little brother who just turned 16, Happy Birthday bro!!!

Ok, this is my first level for FPSC. It is called "THE ART OF ESCAPE", I hope you enjoy. Maybe I will get to enjoy some sleep.

This is the High Quality version, tomorrow I will release Medium Quality version. I'm pretty sure I pushed the FPSC engine to it's limits so I hope your computer has good specs!!! It will lag a bit in the vent area, but don't worry it will pass.

NEW CONTENT - Includes many new textures, many new sounds(Nazi soldiers talk, new Gun sounds) couple new entities, and so much more!!!

Hi,

Just downloaded and played the demo, what I saw looked nice. One thing though; how long does it take you to load the demo? - I thought it had crashed a few times (when the loading bar didn't progess for a while) took several minutes to load the whole thing.

Is this to be expected?

Aside from that, it was nice to see some of your screenshots in action, got as far as the first enemies but blew myself up .

Nice ambience too with the sound fx & music.

Cheers, OG.

@Opus Games

Yes it is normal for the loading time to be that long. It takes around 5 minutes for mine to load. Just keep in mind that demo is only one level and the file is like 192mb or something. I think I pushed FPSC to it's limit. Please play the rest of the level and tell me what you think. You haven't even seen the cool parts yet!!
Thanks for your comments.

The file servers on FileFront can be a mixed bag - I used No.15 and it downloaded in about 20mins on a 4Mbps connection.

Cheers, OG.

EDIT1: Mark out of ten? I've got to get past the bit where I blew myself up first . I'll try to post a short review tomorrow...

Lol...its on 20% now with 9 hours to go...but I'll try a different server then

EDIT: I'm using server 14 now and have already got (17% now)with only half an hour to go...hopefully it will stay at that level!

EDIT: (Yet again...) 78% to go...I'm just looking at the screenies and I can't wait to play this...the quuality looks stunning, and the effort is there for ll to see..this is what you can produce with FPSC if you try! What is the lifespan of the demo though?

"What is the lifespan of the demo though?"

I assume you are talking about how long it takes to beat, if that is what you are saying then it lasts 10-15 minutes.(If you dont suck )

When I started to play, the ceiling exploded in a very nice effect- not something Ive seen done in FPSC before. But then, I couldnt move! Odd, Ill try playing again later... Very promising, Nik.

@Sarusx and everyone else

I think all you have to do to fix that error is press ctrl+alt+del and click on the Running game on the toolbar. If you can't access the toolbar using the mouse for some reason then use the arrows.

Hope this made since.

Well, I downloaded it, and then sat through the quite long loading time, then the game lagged and the roof exploded, very nice, but then I got blown into the corner, and, like Sarus, I couldn't move! Then the game froze so I had to hit ctrl+alt+del-like you said...and quit the game to get back to the desktop. This happened to me three times.

EDIT: Found out the problem- you have to use the direction keys to move! Just died, but its ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT so far. Whenever the enemies are standing ther, they look great because of the shadows. Also, the strategy to get out of your cell is great. 10/10-I'm going to see if I can get further this time!

Tips for playing my level

1. Use directional arrows to walk.
2. When you encouter the first two soldiers use the artillery
shell.(be careful they are extemely explosive.)
3. My games damage is realistic, so peak around corners and be cautious.
4. Look for explosive barrals to shoot near enemies.
5. Turn your sound up and listen to new sound fx!!!

Opus Games, that would be great!
Pycho Warrior, If you want me to host it somewhere else I can.

Just downloaded the demo yesterday. I tried it today, and...well, i was a little disappointed. The loading time took 15 minutes. First of all- why did you change the default keys to the arrow keys?
Most of the fps games use W/A/S/D keys these days, so you'll have to change them for the final version. Plus, it's much easier to handle physic based puzzles with those keys.
Heck, i've never played any FPS game using the arrow keys anyway...and it's a lot easier with W/A/S/D, but everyone has their own opinion of course. It would be cool to be able to change the control settings from the main menu, but sadly you can't do that in FPSC.

The framerate was quite bad too (about 5-12 all the time), but it was probadly because of the lightning and the massive amount of entities. (My specs: 2.93 Ghz Intel P4, 1024mb Ram, overclocked Ati X700 pro 256mb videocard)

I know i shouldn't expect this much for an FPSC game afterall; but you pushed the engine to it's limits. The sad truth is that no matter how fine and cool looking your game is, the engine FPSC uses can't handle it without lagging like hell. Also, if the loading time per one level will be as long in the final version, it's enough to scare some players away.

On the plus side though, no game ever created by FPSC has looked this cool. The music was pretty nice too, but the main menu music got boring after listening to it for 15 minutes.

Just wait till Riker 9 is released...then we will be able to create a lot better games with FPSC.

@Psycho Warrior

I appreiate your honest review and it does make me feel like I did a good job when you said No FPSC game has ever looked this cool. To tell you the truth this was my first level for FPSC and I have to learn about the limits of the program. Yeah I know the level lags alot I focused much of my time on polishing the visual side of the game, so gameplay suffers. But this in fact was the demo so trust me alot of improvements will happen. Thanx

The game is good but nothing says it like a list of the good and the bad.

Good:
Cool, the roof exploded! Great effect!
Nice sound effects
Great lighting
Really confusing start, with the chair and all (its a good thing)
Challenging

Bad:
Framerate
A little too challenging in some parts
Arrow keys suck

Well thats all other than the loading time but thats not your fault.

But now I gotta go cos simpsons just started lol
