dont take this the wrong way - but bear in mind, humans were never designed to ski... Otherwise we would have evolved with big smooth planks intead of feet I find it quite hard to find sympathy for people that get hurt doing extreeme sports. It could also have something to do with the fact I've never ski'ed before and cant quite see the attraction in hurtling down a very slipperly slope with very little control and lots of obstacles Then again - i do have the control of a breeze block!

That does look painfulll though! How exactly did it happen?

Program yourself a skiing simulator, job done.

What's it look like from the outside? All banged, bruised and lumpy or just normal?

I would hardly count sking an extreme sport. I fell on my shoulder because I got caught in a hole on the hill, not because I tried to jump the wall of china.
(Skis caught in hole, body flying 20 feet forward.)

On the outside? Bumpy and squishy. The bad thing is, there's a muscle connected to the left peice that's pulling up, a muscle connected to the right peice that's pulling down. So the full collar bone(s) is in a tug of war with itself, and will heal crooked because the bones arn't resting on each other.

The 14-year-old sucker sharing my room at the hospital? Jumped of the ski-lift with his friends for fun. Two broken legs.

THAT'S my pain-killer.

You know Megaton...I'm not sure when you have been usefull, if ever. Though I guess you're fantasy model pack somewhat counts. Get better though. You'll probably be more boring with a broken collarbone.

Christ on a bike, that xray is not helping my fear of breaking a bone. I'm almost 25 and I've never broken a bone. Closest I've come is fracturing my cheekbone (a cricket playing mishap - tip: don't stand to close to the guy's backswing).

But the thought of actually snapping a bone scares me.

Ow.

I broke my big toe's toenail in half once on a skateboard... that was probably the most painful experience of my life, shy of being in a car accident and (on a separate occasion) having a building fall on my head (well, it didn't really fall on me, but debris nicked my forehead pretty good). In any case, that looks way more painful.

How long will it take to heal? I forgot to ask that in my last post. Anyway, as I said before, get well soon

Odd... either you rule or your friend rules, or whoever's house that is, they rule... to have the pictures from the White Album framed and up on the wall is awesome. I've been trying to get my younger cousins (who are in their teens) to listen to the Beatles but I've been met thus far with hostility

Sorry, that was off topic.

Matt: Those are from the White Album? Paul looks very Abbey Road / Let It Beish there, although with less hair below his nose.

that looks really painful, but you have got to remember that the colar bones are designed to snap under little load as a form of protection for the rest of the bones, but i guess that isn't making it hurt less

Yeppers, Jeku is right yet again. If you get the White Album on Vinyl (those are "records"... those big black disks that you might see in old 1980's movies, for those of you that are too young to recall), there was a series of record-sized images of all four Beatles. I wanted to hang them on my wall, but my mom SCREAMED at me when I asked her for a pair of scissors and I was holding the sacred White Album. In my house, The Beatles and Sly & The Family Stone were GODS and you weren't allowed to deface their stuff, hehe. Cutting up the White Album was, in my house, the equivilent of shooting a cow in india and eating it in front of everyone, hehe.

I should sell all of my old posters from the 80's on e-bay or something. I have a funky velvet Clash poster that could probably fetch some cash, and a Jeff Buckley poster that I bought a few months before he went for his famous swim in the Mississippi (sorry for the nasty innuendo, Buckley fans).

btw, how hardcore was this ski place? Like, how steep was it and whatnot?

Why do people keep asking this one?
Solid bone was crunched loudly in two with various muscles and nerves being torn clean out. There would be something seriously wrong with your nervous system if it didn't hurt.

It's a place called Blue Mountain, the biggest mountain in my province! (Ontario)

The silly thing was that I broke it relatively at the start of the hill - had to ski all the way back down and drag myself around the lodge wondering where the first aid centre was.

I like me bands

Good god man! How did you even stay on your feet? The next time you go skiing, bring a cell phone hehe

@ Mattman: The only vintage shirts I have - a Beastie Boys - Licensed to Ill shirt, a Sonic Youth shirt from one of their concerts, a Primus - Seas of Cheese shirt (also from a concert), and my favorite, a Radiohead - Pablo Honey shirt, the one with the baby on it

Oh man, somewhere on this computer I have an "owned" animation, like the one in my signature, where a snowboarder falls out of a chairlift near the start and smashes into an unsuspecting lady a few feet below... I'm trying desperately to find it

That would be awsome indeed, but it was a few minutes after I got of the chairlift. The hill is a few miles long, I just happened to ski into a poorly maintained part of the hill.
