The film "Serenity" is now out on DVD in the UK.

Buy it. Buy it now.

You all need some Serenity.

all these modern films are boring, boring film, boring titles, I`m waiting for something like

inter-universal battle group conquest5 and the ultimate weapon forge of dimension Aleph-Zigma fight beyond the edges of reality against the titan cyborg soulreapers of Chzire-Demak

nice snappy title and not too boring a plot (although the title doesn`t do it justice)

Awesome Me! I'd like a rival film maker to make Giant Chubaka and the Multi-Dimensional Massacre of Pluto: Minions of the Soul Reaping Intergalactic Overloads, Part 2.

That'd kick many asses.

I also watched 6th Sense again recently. Now that's a good film.

You know, I'd love to, I really would. But it's my birthday this Friday and people I know are strangely against me buying it just now. Can't figure out why...

@tinkergirl: lol

@Philip: tbh I havent seen Serenity, just read the blah on the web about it, I`m a true geek, don`t care about the plot as long as the FX are ok (I gave up on expecting to see realistic science in SciFi years ago), lot`s of explosions and impressive gizmos are my thing, if I wanted social interaction I would watch "neighbours and sisters" or whatever they call it, hell, I got rid of my old ex cos she wouldn`t stop watching soap opera when Babylon5 was on (the blasphemy!! )

The actual conversation was...

Friend1: "Hey - Serenity's out - you getting it?"

Me: "Ooh, yeah! Cool idea. I'll be right on to Amazon and..."

Friend2: "*cough!* Um, nah - best, uh - yeah, wait till Saturday. You can buy it then. Yup. Saturday."

*Meaningful glare from Friend2 to Friend1*

When people do that to me, it just makes it fun to REALLY want to buy it . I did that to my brother last xmas, with The Warriors DVD, which he'd already got me and I was determined to buy. It's a good job, because I'd have ended up with 3 copies instead of just the 2 I got for christmas . I suppose if you think of a great present for someone, the chances are they're already getting it from someone else - best bet is to just not buy anyone anything, give them money instead.

Or you can just save your money and not buy anything for anyone

Except maybe your spouse.

@ Me!

What's really scary is there are companies that make money simply by giving a movie a title. They watch the movie... think of a title... and get paid for it.

You really should invest in a DVR... I can't live without mine. The newest DVRs let you record 2 channels at the same time and watch a 3rd channel.

Best movie I've seen in years. Loved the Firefly series, and the film was even better. I love Star Wars, but it made ROTS look like a pile of c**p in comparison. Fantastic stuff. I agree, buy it now and make sure that they make another one

Slightly annoying though that the DVD came out a lot later than in the US, considering we had it here first (some scottish festival or other) and the full cinema release was within a week I believe. And we made it number one at the box office (for a weekend) and number one film of 2005 on film 2005 (probably biggest film review program over here). Annoying. Then again we tend to get this now and again in the UK for no good reason. Sometimes even foreign language countries get it before us, and we speak the same language as the US (clue is in the name). Annoying.....

Still, buy the DVD, you know you want to.

Cheers

Heh, just watched Full Metal Jacket again last night. Wondering where I'd seen Jayne (Adam Baldwin) before. And it turns out he isn't actually any relation to the Baldwin brothers. Erm, thought it was quite interesting....

I'm also technically welsh (born in Cambridge, everyone else in family apart from sister born in sheep land). We make really crap characters. Apart from that Batman Begins bloke. He's pretty good. Oh, and that fit bint from Zorro (south walean mate used to half know her when as kids they hanged out at this cafe). Ah, and Anthony Hopkins. Richard Burton... Ok, so not so bad...

Crikey, just done a search for famous welsh actors, and there is a load with welsh parents. Bette Davis, Susan Sarandon, Tommy Lee Jones (really didn't keep his dad's accent!), Leslie Nielson... crikey quite a lot of people who b***ered off from Wales and had famous kids.

Huh... ok, not Welsh, but I didn't realise Charlie Chaplin was born in London. Hmm, didn't actually leave until he was 21... Interesting stuff...

Cheers
