Here goes another "review" (or, comments about the demo):
Just tested the demo. The main menu was colorful, but i didn't like it so much. It was a big pixel mess. I would have preferred something like a reqular background picture, perhaps something "fantastic", as it would fit with the theme.
The beginning was quite good, the light flashing near the bed looked pretty neat.
The sword, your only "weapon" in this demo, was pretty well designed, but transparent. It would have looked better with non-transparent textures.
As soon as i got outside, i was shocked. The area was soooo large and it had many zombies standing around. The big environment had it's downside, though: the framerate was bad. REALLY bad. As it says on the manual= don't try to create huge outdoor areas. FPSC's engine can't handle it, point blank. However, the area seemed much more non-linear because of it's bigger size.
After turning around the corner, i found a passage leading to a cellar. There was an NPC standing still. You could have designed it a little better; the NPC could give you some hints, for example; perhaps you could put a story- or soundzone there.
You need a little more work on the outdoor area, however. If you make it so utterly huge, put there some secrets in there as well. I explored most of the whole town and i found many houses which you could go inside, but there was nothing inside. You should put some enemies hiding inside them, or some secrets for the player. Exploring seems a waste of time since you can't find anything.
Make the town smaller too. What's the point of having a whole town to explore when the most streets are empty or there's nothing to find?
Lesser enemies would increase the performance also. About 30-40% of the zombies could be removed or put inside houses.
Anyways, it was a pretty good demo. It's interesting to see how you can turn an FPS into an RPG. You could put some other weapons in the game too; like, a magic wand which you could conjure fireballs with or something similiar.
I wondered one thing though: the FPS pack says "Non-commercial use only", so it means that you couldn't sell this game, right?
EDIT: You might want to add some more RPG elements to this game also. The demo seemed to be only a zombie hack n' slash fest.
