Any ideas appreciated ...

In some games I cannot host LAN games with the compo completely hanging. In others I can. All LAN games I can join, but some I can't quit from without the compo hanging. In those games if the server player quits or tries to restart a game, my compo hangs. The worst offenders are Operation Flashpoint, Vietcong and C&C:Generals (slightly older games). CoD is a good example of a game with no problems.

I have two on board gigabit LAN controllers (NVidia nForce and Marvell Yukon). I only use one, so have the other hardware disabled, but I've tried both with the same problems.

It's hard to track down drivers specifically for those onboard controllers, but I've had a poke about. I've tried reinstalling directX and updating. No luck.

Any suggestions, or is this one of those problems you get with new compo hardware losing backward compatibility with older DirectX games?
