Ah, the story of my nickname’s origin… I remember it well…
*Everything goes fuzzy and turns monochromatic*
It all started with a boy, an electronic shotgun, and his pixilated hunting companion. The boy and his 8-bit dog would spend their days hunting randomly appearing waterfowl. Then one day a mushroom consuming, mustached plumber in a red hat and overalls jumped his way into the boy’s heart. The boy and the slightly overweight plumber went on adventures trying to rescue a snobbish princess from a flame spitting turtle (Only to discover that the princess was indeed in another castle). The dog on the other hand was all but forgotten and was condemned to spend its days making cameo appearances on Barker Bill's Trick Shooting.
Six years and four Super Mario adventures later, the boy became addicted to gaming. But the boy, known only as Kit, became overly curious. He wrote to the plumber’s father, Miyamoto-sama, asking how these wonderful characters and games were created. He received a letter in return, albeit not from Shigeru himself, stating the steps required to design and program these video games.
The boy then set out on an epic quest. It was a quest to one day become the designer of these electronic masterpieces. But his quest started on a sour note, the boy spent years wandering the vast and barren landscape of the Internet in search of a language. He needed to find a programming language in order to communicate to the computers that he, to this day, desperately clings to. Then one day, while stumbling blindly through the Dark, the boy stumbled upon an ancient and Basic language. The language was known as DarkBasic. *Cue cheesy musical effects*
The boy had reached supreme enlightenment. He began creating programs and games with such complexity that they made cubes spin and text magically appear. But the boy was not satisfied. He dove deeper into the realm of programming and studied the code required to make his games entertaining. He joined an online community of people who shared his passion. The boy adapted the alias of “Game_Creator”.
But when the keepers of the language adopted the new title of “The Game Creators”, the boy was forced to find a new alias that did not directly reflect that of “The Game Creators”. In a desperate, last ditch attempt at retaining his identity he fused together the word “Game”, a word which gave meaning to his life and explained his dreams and ambitions, and the word “Kit”, umm… his first name. And thus he became GameKit, and all was good. (Except he still doesn't have a job)
*color returns, and vision is restored*…
...And yes... I do realize this thread has been dead for a week. It took me a week to write...
The computer isn't an addiction; it's more of a mental and social dependency.
