Im getting tired of trying to find a decent free game caputurer...video thingy, like fraps. So I was wondering if anyone knew how, if there is at all, a way to "create" an .avi file or a .swf file from a series of pictures. The idea being that I could throw together a program that constantly captures screenies of the game, saves their information to a text file, and somehow created an avi or swf. I could always make a video viewer for the files but I'd rather use a wide-spread format like avi's.

So, rephrasinh kind of, does anyone know a way to take say 3 pictures, and turn them into an avi or swf file that playes the pictures in consecutive order?

Presuming you've got a way to capture all those frames, it's fairly easy to stick 'em together in flash... I think

You could make an animated gif...There are lots of simple gif makers out there. (There is one attached)

Although i'm sure you already know how to make a gif...

You do realise that the resulting files would be absolutely massive?

RUCCUS, try google, I remember using something a while a back that allowed you to put images in and it would make an AVI from them.

What about using the BLITZAVI.DLL? - There is a good example of it in the code snippets I think.

No no I wasnt looking for a program to make the movies, I was trying to figure out how the avi file code structure works so I could write a program that created an avi using the source code from each bitmap captured. So then you'd just turn a function on, and it would begin recording your game, saving the image "codes" into a text file, and then when you were finished recording it would take these "codes" and convert them into an avi file. In order to do that I need to figure out how avi files... work

Notepad cant open them, it just crashes which is understandable. So im turning here, I tried googling but not too extensiveley Ill do some more searches for a breakdown of how avi files work but I doubt Ill find one.

Sorry for the confusion.

<EDIT> Ill look into that avi creator as well I might be able to figure out how they achieved creating avis.
