Idk why I'm posting this, but I guess I find it neat that even with 80 coins on screen (3040 polies, excluding those of the level) can keep a steady framerate of 35 And they're all spinning!

what the hell is this thread about what are you trying to say.
Do you just want to show off that you have 80coins spinning on a screen and you have a frame rate of 35.

Please tell us.

@BigMan: I just think its cool that there can be > 3040 polies and 82 objects on the screen and not lag up

@Gil Galvanti: It's like having lots of objects based on one real object so you can have alot and somehow it doesn't cause any more lag than just the one original object being there

instancing is like cloning, only difference is, clone makes a duplicate that has nothing to do with the source object, other than looking like it, and instancing shares most of the data as the source object.

Instancing

now youre seeing one of the core concepts of OOP and why people like it so much. Not that the dbp basic languange is at all OOP, its not, but this instancing you see is being made available because the dbp wrapper dlls of DX are pure oop code. Lee is taking your object and creating multiple Instances of it in memory on the fly. Not sure if its his function or something that dx does natively that he wrapped as well.
