I purchased a few domain names through register.com. I had a new bank account, and had to try the bank card several times before a successful transaction occured. I set up service, and all was fine, until a week later, when the web sites no longer worked.

I called register.com and was told that their fraud department had suspected the transaction might be fraudulent, since I used the wrong address a few times before getting it right. They wanted to charge me $120 for each domain name, to re-register them. I was relayed between four people, then told someone would contact me. I was sent a form letter today, asking for $120 for each domain.

Don't use this company.

Look who owns "www.registerdotcomsucks.com":

Just wondering how you could get your address wrong.

I use 1&1, who seem quite reliable and don't charge you if someone has already searched for the name; as they leave it open.
Pisses me off these companies that automatically register a name that's searched then charge you more to buy it from them.

Register.com has been the worst registrar for what seems like ever.

Register.com used to be the *only* place you could get domain names, that's probably why they're so cocky.

I actually use 123-reg.co.uk as they're pretty cheap, easy to use and have, so far, been quite reliable.

I am having trouble with one of my domains, I registered with Easyspace, they say I need to pay 49 pounds to unlock the domain, so I can move it, they do not except dollars.
They are crooks.

GoDaddy's good - Have registered 5 domains with them since last May(ish), and haven't had a SINGLE problem

'tis easy, cheap, and trouble-free.

That is bad!!! I'm sure that whoever it is that is supposed to monitor .com domain registration would come down on them like a ton of bricks if this is standard practise.
