I have been thinking about an application.....

It can filter out individual sounds from a Cd track. An application that can save out the drum track, or cut out the singing, or get you that perfect riff. Our brains can identify the individual sounds, so it should be possible...

What is your dream application? ..............

A rant scheduler.

Basic speech recognition front end, which you rant into, and the program turns your rants into a concise schedule of everything you have to do, have been doing, and can't be bothered doing.

Then we'd overload it by ranting to it about it's busy schedules.

If anyone reads Discworld novels, I'm basically after Sam Vimes's PDA ''Binga bling-bong, Meeting with that jumped up little git at 11:23am, Dismiss, Snooze, Suicide?''.

I would love an application where I could sing into the microphone and it would analyze then convert my voice to notes and put them into standard musical notation.

Then I could move the notes around just like a standard MIDI app to refine everything. That would rule.

A game/sim which is basically a model of the whole world, exactly as it is now and containing exactly what is happening now. You can walk, drive, fly around the world and do anything you want.

I could also just go outside though I guess....

Yeah Digital Ear does sound sweet!!!

I thought about that before. Or something that you can sing into, and a different voice comes out. Or talk into a microphone, and sound like Arnold Schwartznegger for example.

A program that can simulate complete and utter happiness, based on the users personal preferences.

EDIT:: Although the massive bout of depression the user would feel when the simulator is turned off and they realise it was all made-up probably wouldn't do them much good.

I designed this game almost ten years ago. If technology ever catches up with me, you'll see it

(btw, a "lite" version of a game like that is the one my team was working on... the one I blabbed about so much last year)

Pincho, your dream program has been out for a few years on the analog x website..

CDA or CD wavs from a bought music cd are usually 4 tracks, if mastered correctly you can remove tracks of audio by pointing the exact same sound at itself, effectively canceling out the track in question eg: vocal point at vocal means no vocal and your left with a kareoke (spelling) track.

perhaps memblocks could handle this but reading in the CDA file would take knowledge on that format.

anyway this is a free version for removing the voice.

http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/audio/vremover.htm

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself 

And that karaoke game thingie with the microphone for the Xbox claims to have a high rate (in the 90's) of removing vocal tracks from your MP3 collection. That is pretty sweet when it works.

Anyone read the Tom Clancy Net Force books for Teens? They have this program that is like a customized room. Different programs are different things. For example, a backdoor program to someone's computer is a set of keys or a peice of paper is an email. The user can customize their room anyway they want. The coolest part of the room program is that you can through parties. Other people (with their self representations of themselves) are their too!

Does an OS count because if so
I want a perfect OS with a gui that even first time pc users are confortable with yet with the utmost control over everything in the OS
and with attack detection so that when an application is a virus it will detect it and end it, even without an antivirus
and with a filesystem being completely extendable and having every feature but very low overhead

edit:

i seen something like that, there was a post here of it. it somehow could generate any valid word or sentence except for it was all text art
wish i could find it, it was cool

I didnt fail, I just found 10,000 ways that don't work

Sid, ever read the REAL net force series. They are much better. But digital representation of objects isn't an new concept. Heck, everything about NetForce can be programmed as of today. We even do have some experimentation with linking mind to computer technology, and some sucesses.

Pinco, most of what you have listed can be accomplished with a real AI system.

No, humans are too clumsy. You need a AI system programed to learn, infer, act and re-learn (analize and make a new conclusion).

I would like a program, that by entering simple codez, allowed you to create games. This 'dream application' would need to be centered around DirectX 9. Dark indeed it would be, and mysterious. Also, I'd like the price to be $69.99, or £39.99 for those crazy Brits. Also, I'd like for there to be a strange uber geek virtual world surrounding it. Then, you could buy the optional 'Dark Geek Suit' and enter this world, perhaps we'll call the planet Apollo, and battle each other with weapons such as sentence fragments, bad grammar, and overused internet lingo.

With such a program, I'd surely rule the world...

You could all most say that is microsoft, except for the free part.

Image finding is an other easy concept.

The first step is to separate the colors, then you at tempt to find an under lying pattern, best as primitives (circles, squares) based on a 5% color similarity. or smaller. you should get mabey 200 of these and see weither these same patterns exist in another image. The image with the most patterns in common is the most similar. Of course this technique is designed to find images rougly of the same type.
