The only thing I lack in my current projects is motivation. Can anyone spur me on to get down to it and finish at least one of my projects?

Just keep going, break though that boring barrier, once you have everything laid out, and atleast one level done, then all it takes is some patience till it really starts to take shape, everything just flows from there.

My Idea : start 3 projecets at the same time.
1 main project
and 2 other projects
=> If you're bored from one you can change to the next one
But dont start 3 big projects at the same time

Shutup and do it. If you ever waste your time on these forums, or something else other than making your game I'll kill you personally.

Did that help?

Sonic,

I think the problem is 'planning' and a lack of belief that you can do it.

Working on a project can seem a daunting task but if you plan your project and create a development timetable working on little sections at a time you will find it alot easier and your become more motivated because you will start to see your project unfold which will make you even more motivated.

You have also got to be honest with yourself, what are you doing it for? if it's just for a hobby then lack of motivation isn't so bad, but if you plan on working in the games industry then you've got problems, so really think why you want to do it and imagine what you want to accomplish, keep that picture in your mind and work towards it, eventually your succeed if you want it badly enough.

so get a pen and paper (if you use such things nowadays :p) and start designing your project then split it up.

It could be a sign you need to take a break, and come back later, refreshed.

Think breifly about playing your project, how appealing does it sound to you.
If it doesnt, maybe it wasnt meant to be.
If it does then think about it more, think about your mates playing it and enjoying it. Then think of what could come next.

It's alot of work and some of it very boring (the last 4 months for me have been writing editors which sucks) but when you get it to someone who likes it youll see why we all do it.

I've been taking VERY long breaks of many months, but thanks anyway.

That'll get me thinking.

That's true.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I didn't expect such a big response so soon. I'll get down to it now and try and complete some of my projects.
