Ive not played far cry, but, why not add some big rocks, you can hide behind? What about a mine, so you can explore it in a level?

Yeah, but you may need to retexture a thug to look like a native, to give it that 'true island' feeling.

make a trigger zone over all the grass, so that the enemy doesn't spot you until your within a certain range, that way, you will have camoflage. Good work so far, but your frame rate is fairly slow. Is this due to the game or your computer specs?

22fps and no enemies yet? Way, way to slow and some enemies to this level and you're fps is going to drop below 15 very soon.

Ok well you're gonna want to use less trees, less grass and keep all lighting either low or off. A lot of trial and error helps, try not to use too many entities that are dynamic, using more static ones will drastically help framerate. And try to keep the outdoor spaces small.

Change some of the textures to smaller sizes, such as changing a 1024 * 1024 pixel image to a 512 * 512 pixel image.
Good luck!

To do invisible walls, simply texture an all black RGB 0,0,0 picture and apply to wall, Voi la. I don't understand your other question.

You should decide what the enemies are. If you do a village, natives would be cool, although it would look kinda weird if they have modern weapons. If there's like a military base, then soldoers would be cool. I haven't played FarCry, but story should drive the game design.

GF 6200?! No wonder why your framerate is bad. Your videocard is way out of it's range. GF 6200 is a very low-class product and certainly no good in gaming. If you really want to save money, go buy an Ati X1300 and you'll live few years just happy with it.

And, if you want the game to be like far cry, you should NOT add invisible walls to the level. Far cry has really wide and large areas to explore. Invisible walls would just limit the player from exploring.

Anyways, the screenies look really good! I love the amount of vegetation.

i think that your problem is too much of a high poly count for example you have too much going off in the scene this could be causing and extremely low fps and low loading times

it good using grass billboards to create the illusion of a field of grass but the but you can get the same effect with less grass and smaller grass billboards

example try to clump your grass billboards in smaller scenes in large clumps but less billboards to improve your fps count and lower the poly count

try putting the grass billboards as shown in the picture this should lower your fps count giving fpscreator less to draw

peace out

no problem skitza just trying to show that with high polycounts on forests and grass as such fpscreator cant handle high polycounts it slows the framerate drastically

a lower polycount is always best with fpscreator

torque handles high polycounts better

peace out

Since I am new here, I dunno if you guys already know this, but, in game, at the bottom, you know how there is the framerate right, well, when you hit the tab, the bigger detailed list pops up right... Well, I created a room that is the size of the whole FPSC room, and I loaded it, and the FPS at the bottom will say 32-33fps.. I hit TAB and the FPS drop to only like 25-26. Showing the statistics themselves seem to bring the total FPS down, so we shouldn't judge his framerate from the pic that he showed with the TAB statistics open. He probably get's at least a good 8 frames or more when it's off.

BTW, I was testing this level out on my laptop, which is a Pentium 4 2.8ghz, 512 ram, and only a 64mb Radeon Mobility 9200.
