Personally, I don't think so, but there is a new service on the horizon called Multiverse and they claim you can make lots of money by making a MMOG and publishing it on their servers.

What does everyone else think?

Sounds like an MMO middleware. Looks interesting, attractive and promising.

Well, it looks like everything you do is dependant on their engine. That would be useless for me - I'd have to reinvest in their software, junk like SpeedTree. I think they'll make lots of money on the software from big dreamers wanting to make magic games.

I'd only be interested in someone allowing me to host my software on their server. I suppose that is what I'll have to find in order to host any type of online game - using my computer is temporary and inadequate at best.

Um, isn't it a network engine? You can't judge a network API on the graphics of some of the games using it

And this was posted before (hehe, always wanted to say that )

Where? I challenge you to find any information on Multiverse in the TGC forums! You will find a reference to the word "multiverse", but it has no relation whatsoever to this topic.

Search is my friend, and in this instance he failed.

Actually, he's right. I can't find the topic (I think multiverse wasn't in the topic title), but I did subscribe as an early developer back then. That's why I received

.

I don't recall doing that. I was merly commenting on how poor Multiverse's flagship game looked at the moment.

Hehe, well the only reason I know this is because I'm the one who posted this into the forum a few months ago I'm too lazy to find it though.

Ahh, here it is: http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=66523&b=2

But yes, I signed up for this and haven't received an email yet.

OK, you win

But in my defence, that means Google hasn't been this way since you posted way back in December last year. The Google search doesn't find it.

This one is based on Ogre, not sure if that ties it to 3D Game Studio or not?
