A Zelda game thought to be following in the footsteps of the Wind Waker was announced at GDC, with sailing and celshading. There's a video and screenies over at IGN.

The main page of IGN seems to have gone down.

Sweet!

Can't wait for that one, should be fun ( provided they make good use of the Touch Screen which not enough high-end games are doing yet ).

Phantom Hourglass!!!

Yesyesyesyesyes!!!!!
From the screens, this is more than I'd ever hope it would be. I can only imagine the awesome things we'll see in it, not to mention how they'll do the wifi (you know they'll do it).

Now I can't wait for E3 for them to release more info on it...

Edit:

Watch the video. It's made clear that almost everything is done with the touch screen. They even show the touch screen being used to write notes on the map, as well as to charter a course for your boat. They showed a line being drawn across the screen, and then Link throwing his magic boomerang along the path of the line. I'm also fairly certain from the video that you use the touch screen to move. Oh yes, basically all of the action seems to take place on the bottom screen.

There's more to games than graphics, is that all you saw? The cel shading and the boat?

The gameplay looks different than Wind Waker and even from standard handheld Zeldas.

Then go nab Twilight Princess. I see very little difference between Wind Waker and Ocarina of Time that isn't aesthetic.

I don't see what you have against Wind Wakers graphics... They're absolutely amazing. Are you just upset that they wanted to try a new style?

But for the handheld, I'd have to say Minish cap was the best 2d looking Zelda ever, and that was cell shaded. So I'd have to say that cell shaded Zelda is the best way to go on the handheld.

I wonder if we will see some type of downloadable software for the DS, when the Opera browser is released.(june I think)
I know you were suposed to be able to link to Nintendo, via wifi, to download demos and stuff, it would be an idea, if they brought out a memory card so you could download Indie games and stuff.

I remember seeing somewhere talk about downloading game demos via wifi kind of like Xbox.

Anyone can download demo's via WiFi... Go look for the official nintendo Demo's ( they should come in .nds format ), then google for 'WiFiMe' - This is a little app that uses your Wireless network card to talk to the DS ( and send it the demo file ).

You will, however, have to install specific drivers ( and have one of a multitude of compatible cards ) to run it. But, none-the-less, I've played the Polarium demo + others on my DS

( That and I have the hardware to do Homebrew stuff... I even have a WIP SpiderSolitair game, if anyone wants to see it, the .nds is attatched - you need the Dualis emulator (r19) to play it ).

Cheers,
Jess.
