Is there a sample or tutorial of how to make a multiplayer/net game?

What I am trying to do is make a chess or checkers game. All I need is for the pieces to correspond from opposite viewpoints of course. I am not worried about checking for illegal moves etc. I just want to have pieces that both players can manipulate.

easiest solution, hook up another computer to ur computer. Put program in both computers and try ur luck. I'd advise trying a simple chat program first then start sending other types of data.

I'd give an example but.. sadly i had to reformat a while back loosing the Online chat program.

Man thats sucks about the reboot. We have all had it happen.

So it there a good template or tutorial that illustrates a working network game?

I guess chat is pretty close. I suppose all of the position info could be passed back and forth in strings.

Reality forgotton seems to be a good name for you. You post how easy it is to make MP and then I check out your "site" and low and behold in the the "games" section lies:

"
There are no games finished yet, to check progress of the games please visit the forum. "

What is that ...irony?

Ahem------firstly, that's not true. It depends on what type of thing you're making. Say a chat network is easier than an MMORPG to create, so that is a blunt statement.

Secondly, maybe the person isn't too experienced in this field, and is just starting to venture out into the multiplayer theatre, and you are just crushing their hopes..... please, don't tell people they suck.

Maybe you (Reality Forgotten) aren't so good at games yourself, and have to tell people of their lack of knowledge to cover up your own.

Thanks Master Programmer. I was thinking about trying my hand at a multiplayer game and checked it out here before I start and then I read Reality Forgotten's nasty comment.

I'm glad that you don't like it either.
