I just purchased DB and every time I try to run a program on DB I get this error message

System Error : Surfaces could not be created [..000. & D3D HAL]Failed to create a D3D device from Back buffer surface.

Can someone please help me with that?

Thanx

oh dear, oh dear, what have we got here then?

have you tried DirectX diagnostics? (dxdiag)

hmm... me thinks Direct3D Hardware Acceleration problems, from the error it seems to me that you may not have enough texture memory perhaps.

Have you tried switching to different screen resolutions?

Have you tried running the program with 'set window on'? (windowing)

Do you have an AGP graphics card?

run Direct3D diagnostics and find out if it chucks up any errors

I had that problem a few days ago -
Your hardware acceleration is set to "none"
go to:

- control panel
-Appearence and themes
-changle the screen resulution
-click on "advanced"
-the tab "troubleshoot" should do the trick

i'm assuming you have XP, right?

They say i'm crazy
but im actually REALLY REALLY crazy

It's your HD problem, I have same error on my Old PC.

Suggestion: get a new Video Card.

Cheers.

I had that problem with XP, 2 months old!
Your hardware acceleration is set to "none", I tell'ya
go to:

- control panel
-Appearence and themes
-changle the screen resulution
-click on "advanced"
-the tab "troubleshoot" shows you a drag-bar from "none" to "full", set it to "full" for it to work

8mb ATI card, eh? Wouldn't happen to be the Rage would it? I used to have one of those, and DB worked fine on it (fine, as in it just about ran). Now, I've got a spangly new Radeon 9000 and I'm upgrading to a Radeon 9700 Pro soon! w00t!

Anyway, if Mr Program's tip doesn't work, then perhaps you could try updating the video drivers. Take a nose around http://www.ati.com and see what you can come up with.

Hope this helps!

Only 9700 BOO!

9800 Pro is coming out, it's 80% faster than 9700 Pro and 40% faster than GeForce FX!

Cheers.
