As some of you may remember (from a thread I made a while back) I have a new hard drive. I have gotten windows to install on it, but have NEVER made it recognize my sound card. I have a CM18738/C3DX PCI audio card. It's a C-Media type card, and I wanted to know if all I needed to do was look at the driver details, copy the files listed there, then put those in the proper folders for it to work.
My second question is, will installing windows delete any files lying around loose on the hard drive already? If so, then I'll need to empty it, which will be a pain since I've been using it for a while as a secondary drive.
Thanks in advance!

Search google for the drivers. Then to install, go to your device manager(Control panel->system->hardware->device manager) Right click on the sound card, and click update driver. You can then tell Windows where the driver is.

As for installing XP, you can have it do a format when it installs or just leave all your files and reinstall Windows. It's best to have everything backed up and do a fresh install, but I've been saved before by installing Windows on top of itself.
