Adding a bit of age and ethnic variety

Of course, you'll need to own FPSC Model Pack 2 in order to get any use from these textures. They work on the standard scientist.x mesh and the zombiedoctor.x mesh - I'll leave it up to you to apply your own blood.

As with anything I put up here, they're free for use in commercial projects. Just don't redistribute the textures separately.

No, the base photos came from a subscription site called 3D.sk which specialises in human photo references. I think a lot of their models are amateurs, that way they get more interesting faces.

Why? Are you thinking of earning a little extra cash?

BTW, have you checked out their companion site, environment-textures.com? To date I would say it's my favourite subscription site (although actiongirls.com runs it a close second )

UVMapper Pro only works with .obj files, so to get started, load the .x file for the required character into Milkshape, then export it as an .obj file.

Load the .obj file into UVMapper Pro then select Tools > Vertices > Weld

This glues all the polys together.

Now select Tools > Normals > Smooth, and accept the default smoothing angle.

Finally, select Tools > Materials and set the diffuse and ambient colours to white.

You can now work on your texture map in PSP or whatever, and whenever you copy to the clipboard (Ctrl+C) your texture will be loaded onto the mesh in UVMapper Pro so you can see how it looks.

scratch the retexture idea the textures are so much different they go on the body buy they just dont look right

The idea of an old, grey-haired thug intrigued me, so I decided to have a go myself. The main problem was the hair, I just couldn't get it looking right so the old thug became a bald old thug

Actually, the end result doesn't look very thuggish at all - I think he looks rather amiable. Maybe useful as an army veteran or instructor type character. Anyway, I'll be putting the texture up for download in a separate thread shortly.

I've been wanting to apply new faces to the stock characters in FPSC.
Can you share the steps on how you did this? I don't want to
create anything new from scratch, I just want to give Aiko a new face
or different hair color.

Gaffa - I don't think I can help very much. The bare bones of how I get started are outlined a few posts further up, where I'm talking about UVMapper Pro. As far as the process of blending photos of a face into a workable texture map, its just down to trial and error combined with a lot of practice. The only practical tip I can think of is to keep the original texture as a separate layer beneath your working layer(s) so you always have a point of reference.

Lizblizz - On a scale of 1-10? I don't know... it's not the hardest software I've ever used, but it's not the easiest either. I'll hedge my bets and say 5 out of 10.

I have been trying to download these since I first saw them up here... but it doesn't matter what I do I just get this message... I also tried using Internet Explorer to download them but it failed there too... Would it be possible for someone to email these to me?
