I know how to make a .txt file and save variables to it. And retrieving the information is easy with the read command and changing the string to a numerical value using val(). How do you save a string to the file, as in a$="hi" and then read it and print as "Hi"?

rem OPEN FILE AND SAVE

open to write 1,"file.txt"

`Write to file
write string 1,string1$
write string 1,string2$
write string 1,string3$

`Close file
close file 1
