I really like your design style, Mega.

Very smooth, and has that cartoony-professional look to it. To be honest, it's just how I want my next game ( an RTS ) to look. You've inspired me!

Cheers,
Jess.

I've got to be honest, I don't like the font - what font is it meant to be? Maybe I don't have it installed or something?

Thanks for the comments!

Arkheii: That's what happened to me when I forgot to upload border.css (the file that snaps the layout to the edge). I am guessing Opera is not loading this file for some reason.

Drew: Hehe, now that I look at it, that doesn't seem like the best font. I'll mess around with the css.

Thanks again everyone...am doing some last minute changes and additions and submiting to the college today.

That's horrible, worst website design I've ever seen. waisted your money on the domain, stick to geocities pre-made themes!

Good start. Good luck in the competition. You may want to resize the text box containing the "Hi everyone .." message on the VGStudy page; it spills over into the resource listings on the right.

Hey, you need to hack into everyone elses site and replace the graphics with large BMPs that accurately depict phallus shaped objects, still attached to their owners. Then you'd win for sure.

Of course, I always love your graphic design.

Hey guys

Just wanted to say thanks for the comments.

It seems though that I have become outdated - tableless CSS is the new wave of the future, and people just don't need Fireworks/Photoshop folk anymore.

Oh well

edit: oops I think I bumped this.

fireworks can export css in many ways, look it up on the net.

eg:
CSS layers can overlap and be stacked on top of one another. In Fireworks, normal HTML output does not overlap.

To export a graphic in CSS layers:

Select File > Export.
In the Export dialog box, type a filename and select a destination folder.
Select CSS Layers from the Export pop-up menu.
In the Source pop-up menu, select one of the following:
Fireworks Layers exports all layers as CSS layers.

Fireworks Frames exports all frames as CSS layers.

Fireworks Slices exports the slices in the document as CSS layers.

Select Trim Images to automatically crop the exported images and layers to fit the objects.
Select Put Images in Subfolder to choose a folder for images.
Click Export.

Point your browser at http://www.boagworld.com. The chappy there does a podcast more or less dedicated to web standards (well, he covers quite a wide range of things but it's fair to say web standards are his speciality).

I've only been doing webby stuff for a month or two (I originally 'prodded' frontpage. That put me off completely) then I picked up a book called Creating Websites: The missing manual. It must be reasonably up to date because it explains the benefits of css, only touching on tables to show you what they're like (while making a point of why not to use them). Great book. Had me making a reasonble website in a weekend. Now I'm hooked.

EDIT::
About boagworld. Make sure you grab the right podcasts as some of them are aimed more at people who manage websites. He's done some 'special edition' poddys that you can find at http://pwdmag.co.uk that are more centered around just making good sites (accessability, web standards, design, usability etc)

sometimes kitty kat tables are the only solution to provide the most coverage over different mediums eg: computer browser / pda / phone / wireless device etc.. on a web phone toastmedia looks damm cute and exactly like its computer browser cousin.
I will use the best medium for the role at hand. CSS is a blessing as we move away from those older browsers, CSS3 will remove a few weird glitches improving the robustness.

php spitting out code modules you design in fireworks or weaver as css based modules is extremely fast to dev up and you can get paid ubeh teh skillzorz money!!!!1111oneoneone by knowing tricky things like what i taught you.

most of the time however, each company has a different set of rules for there I.T. development shaped by the teams knowledge of products as well as the companies budget. I will use what ever they started with unless they want a rewrite in another language.

a friend of mine gets paid oodles for knowing an older language PERL for a few larger companies that havent changed over to php or asp yet.

the right tool for the right job.

Hey guys, sorry for the massive, massive bump.

After a long quiet comma, Catfolio has been re-designed with CSS and some PHP. Great thanks to Benjamin for all the coding & help!

Feedback would be welcome, didn't want to start a new thread.

It's simply great and very unique to give right impressions - you're talented and creative artist was the first thing that came to my mind.
However, Im not sure, but the navigation at the right top corner -especially with high resolution- might be hard to find for unexperienced websurfer. Maybe a second menu somewhere where it's placed traditionally. On the other hand, I dont realy know if it is.

PS. the home at the site is not fully valid xhtml, creator used some attributes it dont like (I had the same problem with my other site)

That's Megaton's fault for modifying it, then uploading it before allowing me to put styles in place of those attributes. Stupid tard.

I definitely like the page. So, anything I say can only be good. But, I will say this...

The stark contrast of the grey just seems to be too much. Maybe it's the size of it, maybe the placement, I'm just not sure. Maybe it's the left alignment that makes me think "left justified menu", and doesn't fit that mental image. It seems to stick out a bit too much.

The Polycat Studio template header seems more pleasing to me.

I think, though, that you have a great concept. The whole cat theme just brings it all together nicely.

Good work!

Thanks for the feedback Cash, that really helped.

Yeah, alot of people seem to have a problem with the text being too far off and the whole website being centered to the left. To be honest, I find websites where everything is centered quite boring. And I don't have nearly enough content to fill the website up with if I were to make use of all of that space!

Am probably going to move the links somewhere though...and make them more "flashy" as someone pointed out at one point.

Thanks again
