I have been thinking about this for a long time, imagine you could simply get up in the morning logon to your PC play a space simulator.

This is a simulator like Elite or the X series or even, (puke) Freelancer but with a big differance, the stuff you sell would be REAL, real computers, clothes musical instruments, e.t.c You get a shop or massive starship and fighters scout ships for free in the game but you have a warehouse or shop on a particular planet say on a planet called Electronic there are all shops and warehoses there and people could buy and sell there, same for clothes, food, everything (legally of course)

I wonder who would be intresteted in that?

The rich?

It's a good idea, but it would cost a fortune. You would never actually see the goods either. Would be better is it was like The sims, and you sold the furniture in that game, so the goods would be real but for a game instead.

Yes well I was thinking of having safe sectors and you couldn't comeput of those safe sectors and you can't come out of there unless you are earning at least £45,000 per annum or £865.38 per week, reason? when you go through the unsafe pirate sectors then when you get attacked and if the pirates are sucessful in taking over your ship they must leave a marker and every goods sold to whoever the person was selling to the pirate crew gets 10% of the sales that would be paid through the online account

This would encourage fairly rich individuals and companies to pay pilots with spacefighters and massive motherspaceships for escorts, if later on I can get the "vehicle driving on cyberplanet" problem solved then youcan have hovertanks, walkers, armed buggys, treaded tank escortsand youcan go to one trading post to another int the Unsafe sector.

so if your poor your more protected if youstay in the safe sector and sell your wares or your services. You would make a profit there but you just could use it for businessand once youhave enough then youcould recruit pilots and yes the pilots and drivers would get paid. Everyone benefits , how about that then Pincho Paxton and anyone eles interested

@BENOJ The objective is to get your own Solar System, so all of that would be yours to sell whatever goods or diversity of goods there and you would get priority listing of course this will cost cash but if you say in the safe zone you should make enough to get on.

The real money would be in the unsafe sectors I am thinking if you get a Solar System there instead of paying my company to have it youget a reward of at least £10,000 cash but this would be way down the line for the future, and I think the unsafe sectors would be owned by the big boys after a while well I was thinking once the moneypoured in thatthe prize money would go up to at least £1,000,000 possibly more but that is way of in the future.

No I mean REAL MONEY This isn't going to virtual money this is going to be something different I don't know if it is new so I won't claim it but I mean REAL MONEY.

And the payments would be by cash, credit cards, debit cards, international money order and bank transfer.

But unlike ebay youcan sell your stuff for free and you can approach cyberwarehouses and become an an agent for free, plus youcan still be aan agent and a pilot, all the vehicles will be free in the safe zone and of course I think there will betons of work for pilots the meaning of this?

You will earn enough to become a trader then soon a company yourself then you end up employing cyberpilots yourself

Oh yes and you would have pages just like ebay. I can'tsay too much more but who know would be interested

You wouldn't do this in any DB package. The language would have to be tight as a ducks ass. Never crashing, never giving errors, and tightly secure. Can't have property/money going missing.

i think it sounds like a rrlly cool idea definately. But because it would be real money i think it would be too DANGEROUS for everyone to play.

if you had a ,as someone said before, "sims" like approach and you bought stuff fo ppl, all virtual though, and you could maby attack neighbouring citys/planets trying to be the riches in the area and you could make clans or something like that, i think it sounds like a rrly cool thing

as for helping, i would help but i dont think im good enough to be on any team at the minute, but i would have loved to have been a part of this great sounding game

Yes, well I would need help with the programming as I said, the media would be OK though, well for the transactions it would just be formsor getting software that produced online catalogues. The problem would be linking it to your ground vehicle HUD.

Your right though Paxton, the language programming would have to be tight

I would consult a lawyer first. I heard the US government going to tax profits on US resident ebay sellers. Then the other problem is paying the rich players on their sells when they pull out.

@Dark Eternity Supreme Advertising Promotion of thier goods, after a while proper prize money (for them) and there would be tons of competition from smaller firms I would imagine, remember unlike ebay virtually setting up shop would be free, of course there would need to be checks

Also there needs to be some incentive for the not so rich to make a lot of money otherwise it's just another online auction house so having pirate area's is a good way of doing it and making the big and meduim boys pay for pilot protection I have worked out a way of doing it so that the goods will still get to the customer and yet if your a pirate you can still get a cut from the goods sold or if your a Defender trader you also get a cut from the firm or company who employed you to defend thier cargo

That is a matter of the coders experience with secure programming and not language of choice. Delphi, for example, claims that it can identify Bounds Checking and potential Buffer Overruns, but ive already seen local exploits for Delphi and other compilers on my daily BugTraq emails at work.

DBP CAN most definitley be coded with security awareness but like every other language in existance,is equally prone to local and remote attacks.

Furthmore, even with hardware/firmware Intrusion Detection Systems and IPS's and network traffic analyzing and a full time hired Network Security Admin/Analyst and a well documented System Backup & Recover, you STILL arent immune to local/remote attacks.

You will be dumping ALOT more cash and FAR more time, into this plan than you think.

Im not saying, dont do it. I'm saying dont expect this to go over any time in the next few years and with out a serious business loan and full time security and IDS/IPS hardware/Firmware and Lawyers and much more that im not mentioning in this.

hmmmm yes x1b I wouldn't be suprised if it means if we get a working prototype we will have to either take it to Europe or the USA.

Like to know how many more people are interested in joining in though
