darkbasic could easily load and play .mp3 files through the sound commands before i got my new computer.

when i got my new computer it couldn't load mp3 files any longer.
(i have used dbpro for so long, that i haven't tried dbc with mp3 yet on this computer until now)

so, i installed all codecs i could find, but it still doesn't load mp3 files.

any ideas what this is about?

Do you not just load it in as a sound effect, but with an mp3 extension and play it that way ?
I haven't got DBC enhanced on my new pc so can't test...(will install tomorrow when I can dig the disc out and have a try for ya)..

you dont need to reinstall - MP3 only works with the music command set with DBC - so if you want to use them, use LOAD MUSIC etc...

[edit] sorry, i worte sound instead of music [/edit]

ok, this is my code

LOAD SOUND "media\music\SteveHarrison-title.mp3", 1
LOOP SOUND 1

that does not work. neither does the LOAD MUSIC command.

a long time ago i heard from someone that darkbasic can play media formats that my computer can play. ie divX, mp3 etc.
but, i guess thats not entierly true then

Well apart from double checking the file name is correct i dont really know what to suggest. Youre sure that this doesnt work:

LOAD MUSIC "media\music\SteveHarrison-title.mp3", 1
LOOP MUSIC 1

: because it worked fine for my mp3's.

And have you definately got the latest version, because only the 'V1.13 enhanced' (or 1.12 i cant remeber which the latest one is) version of DBC can handle MP3's.

If so, then try it with different MP3s to check that it is not just a bad file.

edit,
for some reason apollo didn't get my whole post :/

yea, i have v1.13 enhanced.

LOAD SOUND "media\music\03 - Ana Johnsson - The Way I Am.mp3", 1
LOOP SOUND 1

it works with that song. thanks for the tip froggie

steve,
i think it would be better if you convert the songs, because my .ogg to .mp3 doesn't seem to be working

I use .mp3s for voices in my games. I create them on Nero Wave Editor and save them as .wavs, then convert them into .mp3s using the program Switch, can can convert .ogg, .mp3, .mpg, etc. into many, many files. And what's better? It's free on the internet! Just go to Google and type "free switch converter" It's that simple!

^^^Wow, I should be a salesman
