Hey guys, dont be offended if the judges didnt like your game. Remember, YOU <> Your Game!!
Well, I guess a lot of people here must have thought Krait was going to get a higher score because it has one of the absolute best graphics in the competition.
I said from the beginning we'd mostly be judging on games we thought were the most FUN. Unfortunately, for Krait, I did not find it as enjoyable as the games that ranked higher. If you read my review I discuss how the animations were twichy and the movement patterns were not smooth.
I also went over the spider(the big blue spider's behavior lowered the games potential score) and also the boss that was amazingly easy( a very easy boss that all I had to do is stay in ONE spot to kill it, that also lowered the score). Those were all things that dropped its score (for me) - The graphics were AWESOME, but this is NOT a graphics contest.
That's why UFO's game got a higher score, it was more fun, although the graphics weren't anything remotely close to Krait, the game was a helleva lot more fun!
I cant help but to guess that some people here think this is a graphics contest?
Prototype took the cake because I still play it today, it has the highest replay value and in my opinion is superior in game-play polish, and detail.
I still think most of the games were pretty fun though, and there were a LOT of good games, and when there are a lot of good games, you'll see some good games near the bottom (because their are better geames) - Overall this competition reeled in a TON of great games, and if you read blogs out there a ton of people raved about how great the competition was as it brought in lots of fun games.
Nobody loses here, because most of the games were way too much fun!!
I'm sorry to anyone who didnt get to the top, but hey, I wasnt the only Judge!! SOme of the games I gave an 8 or so were given a low score by other judges and vice versa.
I really hope you guys check out the competition site, I put 8 straight hours into design and also spell checked everything. The reviews are all solid, and there are 3 reviews for each game!
All the best,
Matt McFarland
