Hello everyone, back with a card question!

if you had like 150 euros, which of the following cards would you buy?

Sapphire Videokaart AGP Radeon X1600Pro 512MB DDR2 DVI/TV

or

ATI Videokaart AGP Radeon X800VE 256MB DDR3 DVI/TV OEM

they're both great cards! The thing is I don't really know which one to pick... The x800 has DDR3, but only 256MB of them. The x800 has 425MHz engine, and the x1600 has 500MHz engine power. But x800 has 800MHz memory, where the x1600 has (a little less) 780.

With all you're knowledge ( ahum... ) gimme an advise.

@Sunrise I think he was been sarcastic.

I say got for the ATI

At the moment whether or not its 256mb or 512mb doesn't make a differance, even with the upcoming new gen games, however there will be a time when 512 is standard, however, I would say the speed of a card you could say,

eg a 128mb ATI Radeon 9800 will run Age of Empires 3 much better than my 256mb ATI Radeon 9550, but after observing the 512mb one, the 512mb sounds like it will perform better as well, even if the memory is a measly 20mhz differance

Don't ask, I just have to put my friends duck in my sig

okay guys... I've done some more research 'cause I just coulnd't grasp why an x800 would be just as expensive as the x1600. There's been some pretty nasty information selection taking place. I had go through a LOT of pages of specs before I could see a real difference;

that x800 VE/RX has only FOUR pixel pipelines... where the x1600 has a stunning twelve. So it could be that the clock-speeds are higher blahblah... it's just outperformed by the x1600, on the long run.

(and anyway... the x1600 has better shader support). So, my mind is set, the x1600 it is!

thanks...

Join the Media Center/Vista/IE7 beta program and get a free x800

I'd go for the x1600 - from what i've heard, it sounds amazing.
