I know this isn't a FRAPS forum, but that program dosen't have a forum! I just need to know how to record sound. I checked the record sound box, and I tried both the Detect best sound input option and the Use Windows input option, but the result is negative.

Is there a way to maybe change the sound device and sound input.

Thanks.

pull up the windows volume control (double click in taskbar if there)

click options/properties

click recording radio button

check that the channel you are recording from is checked and the volume slider is up

mostly thats what gives me trouble, sometimes apps change the recording volume or disable a channel and you have to reset it manualy before you can use it.

It does have a forum for registered users. Unregistered copies are unsupported.

in your windows recording volume control that I mentioned above, what channels do you have enabled?, wave and stereo mix should be two of them and the enabled checkboxs should be checked (bottom of slider), a screenshot of your volume control would make things easier too, also it might be that unregistered fraps doesn`t record sound, don`t know since I have never used it but its the sort of thing they do to get you to register with that sort of app.

Ok, there are mixer deviced I have tried. 1: Realtek HD audio output. 2: Realtek HD audio input. Fraps has it set to the second one, but I have tried manualy changing both in windows. But won't let me change the mode in FRAPS.

The first:

The second:

Thanks.

click options, in the list click wave and mixer, then your recording control panel will have the sliders to adjust those two, click the select checkbox and turn the volume up, all you have working as input atm is the line in socket, it should be set like in the image.

then click ok and when the recording control panel comes up, alter the sliders and make sure the "select" checkbox is ticked so that the channel you selected is used to record, that should do it.

I have a C-Media...it caused me grief in my new windows install though; windows didn't know what to do with it. Had to manually download the driver and install...*shrugs*

For the input, I don't have wave or sterio mix, and for the output...only wave.

Can you list all the options in your 'Recording Properties', if you don't have Wave or SMix, what do you have? I know my Audigy 2 LS has a 'What U Hear' option, which is the one I have to use if I wish to record sound.

After checking them and displaying them in the 'Recording Mixer Panel' where you can adjust the volume, you also have to check the 'Select' checkbox below the slider of the input you actually want to use. This is because you can't record from 2 inputs at the same time, after doing this, you should be able to see the selected option in FRAPS:

A quick way to check which one works, is to select one of the recording options and then quickly open Sound Recorder and record a small snippet of sound while some music is playing in Winamp or WMPlayer, etc. If you hear something when you playback what you've recorded, it should work in FRAPS as well.
