I've heard of them---- watched them all in Grade 12 with my girlfriend at the time. Was going through a bit of a phase as she was a bad influence on me

Chong lives in my city now--- some friends of mine looked him up in the phonebook hehe.

Dude, you're about 14 or something .. how can you "remember" Cheech and Chong?

Surely a more appropriate question is "Anyone found a C&C DVD in the bargain bin lately?"

I like a couple of the movies, but I think it's a little over rated, just like Jay and Silent Bob, and countless other stoner idols. The problem is people watching these movies while sober, that's bound to cause confusion and pain - even if you have to concuss yourself with a housebrick, never watch Cheech and Chong sober!.

I love the music, 'Earache in my eye' and 'Lowrider' rock. Cheech could definately have had a career as a heavy metal vocalist .

Cheech and Chong are 2 crazy stoners from the 70's they made cult stoner movies about marijuana that people still talk about today.

The thing is, there's always something memorable and hilarious in the movies so they stick in our minds, like smoking the roach, or the gig at the end of 'up in smoke'. It's not like there's a lot of drug use in the movies, it's more about Cheech and Chong constantly trying to find something to smoke, the humour is actually in these guys failing to get anything most of the time.

I'm sure these movies were intended as a sorta health warning about marijuana - but most people watching the movies in the 70's were too stoned to notice.

Oh puleeeeze--- that is the biggest piece of garbage on TV. The laugh track is incredibly obnoxious--- people laugh when Kutcher walks into the room? And the dialogue is so pathetic. Worst of all is the annoying mother character--- she needs to be checked into an asylum. I'm convinced only a certain kind of person enjoys that show compared to more intelligent sitcoms... if there is such a thing.

EDIT:

If somebody were to give me the series DVDs, I would be too embarrassed to sell them, and would most likely just leave them on the sidewalk somewhere. They're in college, and still hang out in their parent's basement smoking up?

I used to live with my uncle, and he would watch it all the time while I was doing homework.

Hehe, I always considered the mother to be the only funny character .

What I don't understand is what happend to Titus, anyone remember that? - damn funniest US sitcom I've seen and it got nowhere. My name is earl is pretty good, and Weeds is sufferable, so I think things are getting better, at least they were until Pam Anderson got her own show, and Martin Lawrence FFS. Has the income for a sitcom star suddenly quadrupled or something!.

What next Pam, reality TV? - I'd love to see her on Big Brother.

Ouch! Her laugh makes me want to pour hot coffee in my ears!

Yah, Pam just hosted the Canadian Juno awards--- and she was equally airheaded (if that's a word). She said "Canada's music is just bursting at the seams..." then she looked down at her bosom that was literally popping out. Groooaannn.

My Name is Earl is pretty good too. I've been watching lots of Trailer Park Boys recently. It's pretty decent and funny considering it came out of Canada (usually our shows suck--- with a few exceptions like Kids in the Hall).

I'm forever a fan of Seinfeld, it was the best sitcom ever recorded in my opinion. I like King of Queens too, and King of the Hill. Not much else though

Funny how this thread has turned into "what tv shows do you watch"...after it got over the bash Ali M stage anyway

Jeku, have you seen the episode where Red (the dad) gets sued, and Kitty (the mom) tells him he can't call everyone a dumbass as usual during the trial, and she tells him that's why she laughs and Red has to imitate that laugh to not get sued. A great episode. Laugh track may be bad, although Kelso usually comes in in a humorous manner. Don't see why that's why you would hate a show, but whatever floats your boat.

I haven't seen that particular episode, but it sounds like it might be funny.

I am extremely sensitive to laugh tracks--- they bother me to such a level that I can't enjoy a show if there's too much canned laughter. Thing is I know there's some dude pressing a button, and different shows have different laugh amounts per lame joke--- almost like a mathematical formula. That 70's Show just seems to have a higher Laugh:Lame Joke ratio is all.

Things like that bother me so much that I can't watch said show. Don't know if it's a curse or a blessing hehee....

You're usually not missing out on anything that needs to cover lame humor with fake laughter.

What's even more ultra-annoying is when you hear 60 seconds of cheering when a select character walks into the room. The actors end up standing there like dorks smiling and not saying anything untill the cheering/laughter dies down. Yes, you know who the big offenders are.

Don't really think *anyone* on TV deserves that, unless it's genuine. I mean, do you sit there in front of the TV and cheer like mad for 60 seconds when you see a favourite character appear?

It's probably a leftover from 70's sitcoms, like Taxi, where the cast would actually be adored to that extent, especially Andy Kaufman, the problem is that producers think we still get excited by Joey entering a room that we all cheer, like it's the best thing to happen to us that day.

They need told!.

I have to agree with Jeku on the irritation point, I get that too, there's just some TV I can't watch - like Mad About You, I'd happily torch the studio where they make that. Especially, when that git starts repeating his name, Buckman, like it's the best sounding name in the world - I want to hurt him, after forcing him to slap his wife.

Malcolm in the Middle rocks, can't believe I did'nt mention that, one of the best shows ever. It's a shame Malcolm is like 25 now, kinda like what happend to Fred Savage, where one summer he was fine, the next it looked like he had aged 10 years. It's funny how Malcolm is so different from every other show like it - most of the humour is cruel, but the characters are so well written that they get away with it, you just kinda feel sorry for Duey a lot .
