Hi,
I am making a website for a competition and it is do the night at midnight. My friend did some research and typed it up in a word file, he has a Mac and used Mac word. When I opened the word file all the pictures don’t show, they just say "QuickTime™ and a TIFF (Uncompressed) decompressor are needed to see this picture."
Can any help me figuar out how to get the pictures to show. I would just ask my friend to send me the pictures but has going to be out for most of the day and I want to get it done now.

Tanks

ah! the joy of Microsoft products doing what they do best....refusing to open one of their own file formats (word document) created by their own software (MacWord), properly .

have you tried updating quicktime on your system?, failing that you could try installing something like Open Office, it`s all I use and I don`t get problems (I do have Word but it causes weird system errors on bootup...Microsoft are such good programers, roflmao)

No, that would be his Mac's inability to load uncompressed TIFF files. It would be extremely stupid for Windows to program their own loaders for every single kind of file on the Mac, and the Mac should be able to load it itself.

You probably just need to install tiff and quicktime filters so word knows what to do with them. If you have the office cd stick in in and try to install them. You will probably have to do an expert install not just the basic one to get at the options.

By way of demonstration, he emitted a batlike squeak that was indeed bothersome.

oooh! how very scarey, whats the reason for this abuse?, got shares in MS or something?, coming from some schoolboy in the USA who thinks education is a waste of time, thats rich , if you had developed your reading comprehension skills rather than whinging about summer coursework on your site, then you would have realised that the Mac isn`t the system that has a problem with the file, it`s the PC that can`t decode a MSWord document, I mean, TIFF?, obviously some incredibly obscure image format you wouldn`t enable as standard for your application during installation (NOT!), now calm down and lay off the Expresso

He's obviously used an image format that your computer can't load - ask him to reembed the images as jpegs, bmps, pngs etc.

Word actually remembers the image type when its loaded in - if you insert a 5MB bitmap image your word doc will be massive, whereas if you insert a small jpeg it'll be a lot smaller.

Word also stores all your images at full resolution - so if you crop massive holiday snaps it'll still save all the other data. There's an option to removed cropped data and compress images, however.

I didn't lock it but it was probably for the mini-flamewar earlier. Either way, it's an unnescessary lock so I've unlocked it again.

Can't really help with the problem, but I do find it interesting that it says:
"QT and a TIFF (Uncompressed) decompressor are needed..."

They need to decompress an uncompressed file? Hehe!
