Hi,

after all that hassle on the US Soldier issue, i feel really bad that i COULD have sold copyrighted material to you guys, well anyway, i hope we can just forget that now, and i would like to show you guys some work in progress

I was just playing around in 3ds Max earlier, its a Doctor or a Scientist model, but i havnt textured it, let alone UV map it, i will be giving it away for free soon, i have already rigged and animated it with TGC's biped file

i hope you like the look of it so far...

You're really good at making models. You know what I think would sell good on these forums? A zombie pack!!!

Great work once again.
Dont know the full story on the US Soldier issue, sounds like you were stitched up though.
Looking at your visual is it necessary to have features on faces for FPS work or does this create too many polygons?

Cheers

thanks for the comments guys, and city of chaos, yes, going into the face too much will consume alot of triangles, which is why most game models leave detail to the texture

Mr FlowerKhol, it has the zombie animation AND the normal one.

I made the model FPSC ready as an entity. All you have to do is unzip it and put the folder anywhere in your entity bank.
This model is not animated.Sorry, but that is beyond me.Someone else will have to do that.

Ill animate it jon, and make the x file. Ill post it for you when Iam done.

**EDIT*

Actually, I cant work with it jon, sorry. I really need the arms out, not down his sides, to be able to rig him.

The 3ds file didnt keep the proper animation and the max file is a newer version than Iam using.

Jon, Iam having problems with the panda x exporter. When I test the character in fpsc, hes laying on the floor when you place him in the editor, when you test, hes bending over and backwards. So Iam not sure whats going wrong when I export it. I normally use the DBConv.exe to conver 3ds to x. But 3ds does not keep the animations.

yeh, i used the panda x exporter and i get "invisible" results, i dont think bond1 ended the character rigging video quite right, he just went to export > panda x and thats it, but theres a window that comes up, maybe certain configurations are needed...

I exported it, and put it in fpsc. This is what the model looks like. I tested my own model jon, to see if it worked.

On the panda exporter help page, it has this:

Exported model with skinning comes out spikey during animation

Make sure that each vertex has a maximum of 4 bones assigned to it and the total summed weight is 1.0

But it is also playing the wrong animations. It is doing the floating in water movement when its standing on the spot.

No they cant. They also change the biped into little polygons, so all animation linked to the model is lost. I also need to find out how to get it working, as I need my models fpsc ready.

The only problems ive had, are the spiky model and wrong animations. I replaced the thug.x with my own model x file.

Well, I've finally got a chance too look at him in FPSC and well..... I know every one seems to praise this model, but honestly, it's very weird.

The soldier you showcased was looking smooth, excellently textured. This one is blocky (way to blocky to use in a serious game) and is badly textured.

No offense meant, but it just doesn't compare to the rest of your models at all. I know modeling humans is hard to do and I can't do it, but compared to your soldier, this one doesn't look human at all.

But.... He would work great for an alien scientist though!

benjamin, are you sure, on my end its really smooth, unless you are using a different modelling program.

and i know about the textures, character texturing is very hard, and i didnt want to make the same mistake as i did with the soldier texture...

ultraplex, can you provide more info, how is it working fine for you?
