Okay... for a week I thought that my System 32 folder was missing until I turned on the "show hidden" option. System 32 is hidden alright... but I can't make it un-hidden now Anyone else encounter this or know what could have caused it?

Default settings you get your computer by?

Or a virus...

Right click the folder, and check the properties. It should have a 'hidden' checkbox. Also you may have changed your folder settings, which can be adjusted by going to "utilities->folder options"(Something like that, I don't know what it says in the english version of XP) in an explorer(not internet explorer) window.

Since you don't know what it says in the english version, use this to learn!

I tried the hidden checkbox, but no dice. I'll go digging through the folder settings. If it's a virus, AVG and none of my spyware stuff can detect it, they just keep trying to delete Bearshare.

No, I don't know what it says in the English version because I don't HAVE the English version, you moron.

It'll be folder options you want then.

Tools-->Folder Options, then click the View tab and find the section about Hidden Files and Folders and choose to show hidden files and folders. That should do it,

Okay, I SOLVED this issue, and you folks might want to write this down or something in case it should happen to you. If it's missing, go to the command prompt and type in:

attrib -a -h -r -s c:\windows\system32

That should fix it. It worked just now for me. It's weird though... I'm thinking it must've been a virus, but not a virus I've ever heard of before, and I tried a search on hotbot for it but I came up dry. Eh, it's fixed now though. Hope this becomes handy for someone down the road
