Hi Guys,

This is my first topic post, I hope it's in the right place.

I'm in New Zealand so my time is +12 GMT, but I put the forum time
as far foward as it would go, and it's still 5 hours behind my
local time - which gets pretty annoying when I try to tell what
time things were posted.

Is there any way to fix this?

Tweak the time offset drop down here my man. I think that'll do what you're trying to do. If not, I'd suggest crying yourself to sleep tonight or something similar.

Hi Fallout,

No that WON'T do what I'm trying to do, I have already set it
to +12 hours, and it's still 5 hours behind.

As for crying myself to sleep, WTF? All I'm asking is if anyone
knows of a way to fix it, then I would love to know.

Thanks for you help anyway Fallout, at least you tried

The offset should be based off of GMT(which it isn't), as the current system covers timezones that don't even exist, and doesn't cover all that do.

For example, I think the forum time is GMT-5 or something like that, so that covers GMT-17 to GMT+7. As you've probably guessed, GMT-17 doesn't exist (the furthest behind is GMT-12), and GMT+7 isn't the furthest ahead time zone.

[EDIT]Yeah, that would explain why I'm 5 hours ahead of forum time.[/EDIT]

So it looks like it won't be possible to get it to the right time for me, eh? Damn.

Maybe TGC might change this eventually, but in the mean time, looks like I'll have to live with it.

Thanks for clearing that up Benjamin!

If it let you put in your own value for a timezone that would be better.

ie -7.5 or 8.0 -- something like that. Then anyone could use it.

..Or Rich could just set the forum time to GMT which would make things simpler for everyone.

You're welcome.

Sorry daniel. We're all lunatics around here. We all say random stuff a lot of the time. I personally will be crying myself to sleep tonight over the fact my solution didn't work for you.

LOL, thanks Fallout. And thanks for your help guys!

At least this topic will now be searchable on the forums for anyone else who has the same question.

Unfortunately only 3% of us actually use or know how to use the search function properly for this forum

The ironic thing is that this question has already been posted here before, and you didn't search for it!

Either way, the ideal solution we found was to set the forum time backwards so that the time matched up, but it would be one day behind.

Hi Dave J,

I had searched for this topic before hand, but I must not have
been using the right keywords ("forum time"), I guess thats my mistake.

Yeah, now that ya mention it, I might do that. It's just a bummer
that it can't be right.

Thanks Dave J!
