I need to know how to put a background on a 2-d program, trying to make my first program so I need instructions in detail.

yeah, dbpro deals in sprites mainly for graphics. background images are just bigger sprites that are drawn below all others.
try this code. insert correct media. make the image size equal to your resolution to fill the whole screen

Download the file at the bottom. It shows how to display two images using the spacekey and the enterkey. I hope it helps and let me know if you need more help.
