Since 1999 or so, I've been talking about this with my friends, and I just got off the phone with one who thinks it's time for us to do this. Here's the idea: We're going to start a Radiohead cover band and we'll do all of Radiohead's songs in the style of country and western. We're going to call it... are you sitting down?

RODEOHEAD

ROCK!

The only problem with the idea is that we all HATE country music, so we'll have to leap that hurdle before we finish the race

sounds brilliant! I don't like country music, but i like this track;

Eric Heatherly - Counting Flowers on the Wall

that might get you into it enough to cover 'just'

were you stoned when you thought of it?

Well it is supposed to be a rock banned and its traditional to be high when writing songs or come up with ideas...so to me the answer is only obvious

Sounds like you guys wanted to do the band which spawned from the name you thought up. I mean, I hardly doubt you guys were like "Hey, I hate country music, so lets make a country cover band of Radiohead!" or "I bet that song would sound just jolly if it were to use 3 guitars, a mandolin, and a couple violins!" Correct me if I'm wrong.

But I've played country before, so if you're serious about it, I can help you with the "IN"s on country music.

Hey Matt, guess who picked up OK Computer? Yup, wasted my money on it... joking, it's actually pretty good, and has found its way into my commonly listened to collection. I wouldn't have that, uhm, devotion to it as you do, because I've heard better, but the majority I've heard out there has been far worse. Good call.

About RodeoHead... Sounds like an idea me and my cousin would have, only it would never come into fruition because we have more important things to do... like run around the city in a box costume asking for people autographs... Thats always an interesting experience!

Sometimes I'm a genius, sometimes I'm just weird... so does that make me eccentric? hehe

Quote: "You have way too much time on your hands man. Stop posting dumb threads on here about Radiohead."

I've actually never posted a thread about Radiohead (besides this one)... I've left comments on the threads of others though

Quote: "sounds brilliant!"

See? Not everyone thinks I'm nuts

Quote: "Well it is supposed to be a rock banned and its traditional to be high when writing songs or come up with ideas...so to me the answer is only obvious"

Actually we weren't high at all (I'm 26 and I've never smoked pot, which makes me lame to some people and a saint to others when in reality it just never appealed to me). Saikoro was on the money:
Quote: "Sounds like you guys wanted to do the band which spawned from the name you thought up."

One day we were all sitting around bored, and we started talking about music, and after a while we started a stupid arguement about which would sound better, Johnny Cash covering a Radiohead song or Radiohead covering a Johnny Cash song, and then it came to me... Rodeohead

Quote: "please drive to the corner of main street and the L.I.E., in front of the Palace Diner,.... so I can slap you!"

ACK, you want me to drive into Queens? But I hate the 495! You come here instead

Quote: "Hey Matt, guess who picked up OK Computer?"

About friggin' time I figured you'd like it, hehe.

Anyway, yes people, I'm dead serious. We actually sat down yesterday and started talking about a setlist of songs we might do as country/ western and had a damn good laugh about it. We also discussed getting cowboy boots and hats and those funky shirts that cowboys wear/ wore. If you don't know much about Radiohead then this song list won't matter to you, but if you do know anything about them, then let me know what you think about this setlist (we won't play them in this order, we're just discussing which songs we could do). Please note that some of these are b-sides:

Paranoid Android, Just, The Tourist, Talk Show Host, Creep (with yodeling, of course), Rabbit in your Headlights, Airbag (with some hardcore slide guitar), Polyethelene, Idioteque (with a square-dancing style), Fake Plastic Trees, High & Dry, The Bends, Iron Lung, There There, Morning Bell, and Wolf at the Door (which already sounds slighty country-ish imo)

And yes, I'll definitely need some tutoring on country music. I've played with a slide and a wah-wah pedal for one song my last band did but that's as close to country as I've ever come.
