Woohoo! The demo is finally out.
Here: http://www.natsam.co.uk/Natsam/Downloads.htm
This is a short (but creepy) demo, you play through level 4 in the full game, the level is a hallucionacion (so expect strange stuff) in which you see where you are heading, thats right your going to hell. In the full game this will lead to an action packed sequence, but I cant say much on that (dont want to give away the plot) then later in the game you will end up in hell having to deal with strange things, but in the end will you actually get to redeem yourself? Play the game to find out!

P.S Dial up has no hope the demo is around 83 mb.

It is veerry scary, I was afraid to go in the vents.

Also is that your own script when the guy passes by and dissapears? Nice.

Give a man some bullets, and he'll want a gun. Give a man a gun and he'll be giving away the bullets!!

Hi,

Just played through it for the first time. Since I don't want to ruin it for anyone, comments are in the below snippet.

Looking forward to seeing more of this.

Thanks for the review Rich it was very informative I love reviews like this and i'm very glad to know it scared you.

As for the industrial themed HUD its there because most of the game is set in labs and near future things the demo is level 4 where you fall over and hit your head then you start hallucionating *sp and level 4 is a hallucionation.
There will be a blend of creepy and action scenes/levels, because, as you have noticed, I am going for the F.E.A.R expierience.

Very impressed with the use of sound and feedback to create an effective haunting effect. excellent application of light effects and well placed shadows.

There is a crouch option, but why do need one theres no reason to crouch.
Oh and all the scripts for the scary stuff (Guy walking past apearing zombies etc.) are my own.
I am writing a guide for anyone whose interested on how to make the ultimate horror game, including all the scripts and techniques used for lots of scary effects, since I have lots of really scary moments in the full game F.E.A.R and Doom 3 style.

Most excellent start to what I suspect will be one of FPSC's leading games and soon to end up in one of the tgc issues.

x1b,
Did you not get your coffee or what?
He made it and he is right.I saw no reason to crouch.
There is a crouch option in the game.
It is in every FPSC game.
It is the C key by default.
I should not have to tell you this.
He did an excellent job on this game.He valued your opinion.
The only one with their head lodged up their rectum is you.
When the full version of this game becomes available I am getting it.I don't care if it's free or if it costs me money.
This game scared the bejesus out of me and I liked it.
Quote:
"Its not your position to assume of the player nor to inform the player as to what he does or does not desire with in common playing options. Get with the times.

That was a total turn off. When you get your head out of your a$$,ill take a 2nd look at the game."
You are wrong. As the developer behind the game it is his decision whether anyone likes it or not to decide what the player can or can't do.
There has never been a game where you can do everything.
Natflash made the game the way he did to convey a certain mood or atmosphere.
This may be the best FPSC demo I have played to date.
And I made a demo. You can look for it in the showcase forum.
Feel free to trash me too.
We should all take a more positive attitude towards our fellow developers.
This was not meant as an insult. It is an honest critisism.
You would not want anyone talking to you that way.

Very excellent. One of the few horror games made with FPSC that's actually scary- that zombie coming out of the shadows made me jump. The F.E.A.R.esque walking man was also very good. Looking forward to the finished product.

Something witty and/or humorous.

Well now, this game didn't look especailly good in the trailer you made but after playing it i have to say i liked it and gave it an 7/10. Here are my reasons:
The Good
1) Nice Lighting
2) Good use of shadows and dark places
3) Some scary bits
4) Some good scripting

The bad
1) The Level was too short
2) It didn't explain who you are and why you're there
3) Alot of stock media
4) Practically every sound effect was from Doom 3. While the doom 3 sound effects are very good they didn't always live up to there scary potential.

A nice effort, i hope to see (and play) more.

@x1b, [Edited out offensive language], there is a crouch option and there is definatly no need to go on one like that

@I has returned, Thanks

@Bloodeath, Your question was answered by Avenging Eagle most of those creepy sounds were from Doom 3.

Yeah if you really want the sounds, or just download the Doom 3 demo.
BTW the guide is very nearly finished, well it practicly is finished, but I dont know weather I should release it after The Undead, because there are some very good secrets in it that are all used in The Undead, and I wouldn't want my game to lose its uniqueness (if uniqueness is even a word).

Ok whatever x1b I shouldn't have got angry I know (sorry bloodeath) but can you say anything good about this, c'mon all this started just because I said you didn't need to crouch, you are a seriously childish guy if you start a flame war over that, and thats why im not going to flame back.
And no I dont think i'm better than anyone else here.

Also what the hell is anul cranium infustion (or whatever)

Just thaught i'd tell ya'll that the cut scenes have been scrapped, I'll have to use storyboards or somthing instead.
I've done this because with cut scenes it makes the file size too large.

Hello Natflash,

Just wanted to say, that is one heck of a scary game so far. I'm not one to play horror games, but this is creative coming from Fpsc. Also wanted to ask what programs did you use to create the trailer with, was it Fraps and video editing software or something like that?
