Geek Culture / [LOCKED] How I Became Annoying [FLAMEBAIT]

Ok, since I am bored again and don't feel up to spamming at the moment, I have decided to post how I became annoying.
I shall now start.

1. August 25th, 2005
I join the TGC forums. I mostly post for help on code works and how I can do one thing or another. No spam, I mainly stick to the Dark Basic Board or Newcomer's Board.

2. Somewhere in September
I see Dbmad get flamed for his project and iriates me for him doing some work and getting the crud torn out of him by Ian T, or Mouse. Prior to that, I made a previous thread to a team request about a project. And little did I know that I was in for a large amount of (insert your own creative word here) from everyone else who thought my thread sucked. And yes, I admit, it did, however, I didn't know that at that time. Which soon led to my next incident.

3. September 25th, 2005
After all that previous stuff had happened, I made this ultra jerkish thread to the mods. I would post up the original link but I think John Y deleted it. I wonder why? Let's not go there. Anyhow, I got a LOT of positive feedback from that post, mainly from the mods.

4. Mid to Late October
After being banned for a month from that post, I decide to change my name and start being nicer to everyone, including RPGamer, since it seemed he was lonely, and needed attention. Soon after, everything was working good with my posts and what everyone thought of them, which was my goal. But, another terrible incident occured. I suppose I was entering the Age-of-Discovery. You know, how everyone in life wonders about everything. So I made posts wondering if anyone else here SCUBA Dives, like me. And soon, I spelled Australia wrong, so I get flamed by Jeku. Then, I made another post, that had nothing wrong, and it got flamed by indi. So it appeared that everything ended up how it did back in October.

5. Early December
I get angry at Stinky Stoat, or Bouncy Brick, or whatever his name is, and so I change my name to Sarcasm Stealth Squad. What happends? He bans me for a year for doing that, and that name was vancant. However, I was forced to then make this account, which I am typing this post up with. So, with all those passed occurances, I ended up irriated with most mods, and stupidly decided to start spamming and making their live's irriational.

So, inconclusion, I am sorry mods for all that stuff I threw at you. You all had that right to flame me, and all I did was throw fuel at it. Causing this big gigantic barrier between our accounts.

Nice Day Guys.

Ok, thinking logically about this:

- You post spam you know is crap, and you know will get flamed.

_ You've just done it again with this thread, hence proving you've learnt zilch, and you're still the arrogant stupid arse you were when you joined.

No change (and the flamebait tag is definately justified)

Huh? I wouldn't do that. 95% of the posts in this forum have bass-ackwards spelling and incorrect grammar.

Deal with it. Many people start off with bad reputations and they make it better by doing something productive and getting "cred"* so to speak. I would suggest not hanging out in Geek Culture and actually post something in the WIP board-- I mean, you are working on a game, right?

My Apologies Jeku
It was Dave J, or Exeat at the time. Sorry.

I am doing somewhat on a game. Not too much lately though, I've been swamped with homework and other stuff. And the comp I am using to post doesn't have anything related to DB . Otherwise I would. Thanks though. OH and, I post here cause I like reading what Megaton Cat usually has to say about anything. It's quite funny and often leads me to post back. lol

drew, i remember you annoyed me once, but then again, so has pretty much everyone else in this community, in the same way i've probably annoyed everyone else occassionaly.

i never came across any experiences with you bad enough to make me think you deserve all this banning stuff, since you did seem like a generally nice person. either i missed and was completely oblivious to whatever you were doing, or somethings gone horribly wrong, but i think there are far worse people in this forum, who annoy the pants off me, yet they get squat.

@Drew, if you want to get out of your bad rep, admit you're wrong, apologise, no need to explain yourself and just try to get a good rep, I mean I got pretty much flamed for the antichrist thread I started, which was stupid and idiotic and intolerant of other people's faith, yet to these people I am David Hasselhoff (An annoying guy who loves spongebob who thinks he's good looking when he's and take ages to get to anybody help)

Drew G, for some odd reason, I've always felt a little responsible for you, like a wayward teen that needs guidance.

I see you posting all the time using words like...
Quote: "I am bored again "

And now I see this...

Okay, if you're bored all the time, then you have idle time that needs to be filled. Spamming a message board has to be the LEAST constructive way to fill time. Everything on this website is geared toward making games, and everyone on these forums is interested in making games. To really fit in, you need to do something related to making games.

I'm not saying you have to make games, per se. However, you need to do something related, like art, modeling, music, programming, etc. If you're not, then you're just taking up space.

Quote: "I've been swamped with homework and other stuff."

That's cool. You're situation is your own. But, you're bored all the time, so you must not be that swamped. Myself, I've got homework all the time, a family of 6, a sex life, a social life, and I squeeze in game making time. Why? Because it's what I like doing. I sacrifice any TV time in its place.

My final advice to you - stop making threads about yourself. You do it all the time. Make posts about gaming that includes yourself. Spend your time making games. If you just want to socialize about nothing, there are plenty of places on the internet for that. And don't post to a thread unless you have something constructive to add. The ability to add a useless comment to a thread and not come across as total moron is a skill that you lack right now. So, capitalize on what you do have.

I admit, you are correct. However, I previously mentioned the computer I am using does not have DB or DBP on it. And the reason I have all this free time is because I am on spring break. Plus, I am in San Diego right now, I am not near home, (visiting Great Aunt's House). Otherwise, I'd be coding right now.

Second, you have all that time. Good, now, about TV, (I know it's unimportant) I watch a max of 15 minutes a month, most the time less or even none. I know I sound crazy, for some, but I have better things to do. I mean, whenever I don't have access to coding, I most of the time, post on the forums.

Third, it's odd, nevermind... When the time is appropriate I'll finish what I was about to post.

That has got to be the most pathetic excuse ever, surly you can program enough to know what something is 'suppose' to do. Me? My excuse is that I am lazy, and am using these forums as a form of procrastination from doing anything truly productive.
Wiether it be fruitlessly toying with a mess of code, or actually working on crap that I drop anyways. In the sense of programming that is, I have many more things I SHOULD be doing.

But anyways, take an idea, separate its parts, then start working on one part. It isn't that hard, all that awaits you latter is the time you will spend fixing your syntax errors and/or runtime errors.

True, you have a valid statement, but I have this chip in me that hates typing in code unless I immediately compiling it. I don't know. Hey, you can think whatever you want. Unless you don't have free rights. Then I'd feel sorry for you and everything would then be explained.

That would make me polar to you, I hate compiling something unless
a. I am stopping for a time being
b. I am trying to fix something
c. I am switching to another 'part'

To me, compiling is just a waste of time. Your not done with the program, it most certainly won't run. Why waste the time? Half of the errors are because you are probally calling things that don't exist yet, be it files, functions, or types. There are a few Syntax Errors that pop up, and the runtime errors are unknown unless you make an interface to test them.

Anything rude from a mod I take as a flame. Now if Megaton sent that, I wouldn't care. And yes, I hear things at High School 50,00000000032234324 worse than that. I mean, they cuss more in a day then people here would in a life time. I mean, they have the four letter word used in every sentence, and then some. Plus, if they say stuff to me, I usually say stuff back.

EDIT - You posted when I was typing. Don't worry about it.

Drew,

Posts that are pointed towards your own behavior in terms of being annoying or trying not to be... ARE annoying.

Posts that you know are total crap and are irrelevant to anything possibly worth keeping in our brains, are annoying.

now if a mod or someone posts something along the lines of "Sorry ive been tough on you this week life happened and i was in a bad mood"

That would be a different story.

Having an internet seizure every time you post a thread (or any post for that matter) is not acceptable and if you shutup and talk like a normal person thats talking on topic and saying things that are relevant you will get kudos.

Stop being an attention whore and trying to get people to say "oh yes drew im sorry" because

#1 they are not sorry
#2 they dont care
#3 the only reason they are adressing you is because they want you to act civil

Thats all I have to say. I would suggest not making posts about yourself in order to get attention that you so obviously need.

P.S. I think if you were in the Navy SEALs training camp, you would be the guy that rings the bell crying, after the drill sgt calls everyone out in a row of about 6-7 obscenitys.

EDIT: I knew I forgot something, an alternative!

Not that everyone in here hasnt already said it... but...

Get Good At Something

Practice coding, modelling, drawing, photoshopping, animating, rigging, lawn mowing, animal cloning, taxedermy... whatever!

This is a community and to be a desired part of it you have to contribute something. With that, you gain

#1 Respect from you fellow forum dwellers
#2 Something relevant to post about
#3 probably something else worth while

So get to it

I was on my long break when you came along and did your Navy SEALS stuff (though I looked back at it, trying to catch up on things, and the whole thing had me laughing). But one thing you do which REALLY annoys me is bringing back dead threads in a bunch of forums. It would be perfectly okay had you something important to say, but usually its just a joking remark or a smiley or something dumb like that. Maybe I'm a bit too harsh on that, but its very annoying seeing a bunch of ressurected threads by one person with absolutely nothing productive, because they tend to stay unressurected for the next couple days with flames towards you. It also bugs me that you were too dense to realize that people did NOT appreciate it.

Anyways, hope your quest for forgiveness goes well, although you're not really being professional in all accounts against you.

Yeah, when I'm in the game dev mode and there is no computer at hand, I can spend ages doing concept art, planning stuff down on paper, coming up with AI techniques and algorithms, level designs, scripts for the characters etc. You can even get some pseudo code down of how things might work. In fact, to make a good game, you should be doing all the stuff before you code.

So I would suggest sitting down with a pencil and some paper and putting together all the design you need for a good game. Then, when you have problems with that or need suggestions, you can come onto the forum and post something along those lines - thus providing a productive post.
