They went open-source with Solaris a few years ago, in a controlled fashion. You'll probably find you still can't just "get" the source, there will be a process to follow.

This business model is quite common now. They give you enough rope to hang yourself, then wait for you to ask for a pair of scissors to cut yourself down.
