i have a nividia geforce fx go5200.when i run my dbp program in a window, every now & then when my player is animating and moving around, sometimes i get a slowdown like slowmotion, but if i run my program in full screen the slowdown is gone.

another thing when i run my program in 1024x768x32. my cpu & graphics fan are extremely quiet! like its not even working.for some reason it likes this setting the best!i always thought the lower the setting the easier it is on your cpu & graphics card.is this not true?

one more thing, has anyone else experienced this slowdown in a window??

back when I used to have the same card fx5200 agp8x 128 I would get weird video crashes on occasion while in dbp. In games, aside from being a sucky video card, it was fine.

New cards are built for high resolutions and colour depths, so they like them better

hey Eddie, have u tried the new driver nividia has out.i think its called force 'something'.i was thinking about installing that but then my problem went away & i decided not to.im always afraid to install new drivers, especially for a graphics card.because if something goes wrong, its always hard to fix,& then windows might run in 'safe mode'.(big headace)

The 5200 is fine. There are only a few games that it can't run. Doom 3, FEAR, Half Life 2. So that is good enough for the time being.

!me hugs his ati 9800 AGP /256 / dual DVI . ACP /

if you experience anything again and it starts to fall apart then perhaps look for some newer video card drivers.

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself 

I had a 5200 on my other computer and I was able to run Half-Life 2 just fine along with a plethora of other mid-to-high end games.

Good. But what amount of detail do you get in Half Life 2? Is it totally void of textures?

I'd say it was about low-mid settings. Just don't try anti-aliasing.

Update.........

Been playing Doom 3 demo on 5200, and it plays perfectly well. No slowdown at all. Probably will slowdown later with 3 huge bosses, but until that happens it is running in real time. Anyway, luckily for me, my next door neighbour has the full game, and it wont run on his computer, so he is giving it to me. So thumbs up for the 5200!!!

Congrats on a free copy of Doom 3, quite possibly the worst game I have ever played.

i agree.

i bought doom 3 for the pc and it was allright the first time i played. but the game goes on, and im starting to loose interest. it feels like im in the same level all the time, the gmae is too dark, i can hear sounds then i see a flame ball then i die.

my brother got doom 3 for his xbox when he bought it.
i think they made a doom 3 for xbox so people would have something to laugh about.

The demo is creepy with everyone screaming in different rooms over your radio. Better than the film anyway. Same guy next door gave me the film that he bought on Ebay because...

It wasn't the best picture quality....... I wonder why???

Doom 3 was so bad that I went and purchased the Doom Collectors Edition just so Doom would get its good name back in my book. Haven't seen the movie yet, though, and don't really plan to.

The movie sucks. So dark you can't see anything.
