How do I get rid of the white boxes that appear around the text that I type using the input command?

Try putting "set text transparent" before the input and if you want to change it back afterwards use "set text opaque."

I think that would work. If it doesn't then you could always change the color of the box that forms around your text by putting "ink textcolor, coloraroundtext."
