Inspired by the cubic bezier code snippet written by Nicholas Thompson, I have started writing an editor which will allow you to define a path for the camera to follow.

Currently you can position a series on Path nodes which are linked by bezier curves. The nodes are placed by using an fps style camera and the curves can then be edited.

Currently you can't save the path and you can't load any objects or terrains, but I will be adding that soon. Also the camera movement code needed to use the system in any DBP apps hasn't been started yet.

Here is a screenshot

I would like feedback on how people think the control method can be improved and any features they think could be useful.

But please remember this is still at it's very early stages. I've only spent 3-4 hours on it!

Cheers,

Cloggy

Why not use my autonomous navigation code which I posted into the code snippets board to control the camera and move it from waypoint to waypoint? You can adapt that code to this easily.

Philip,

I've not seen that code snippet!

What I was trying to achieve is to produce an on rails camera, which would for the basis of some sort of SHMUP.

With this method I can make the camera move forwards and backwards along the predefined path, I also am going to allow the camera to be stopped at any node for a given delay etc.

Cheers,

This would be quite cool for some cutscenes.

Just to let people know, I haven't stopped this project. It's been a bit slow going getting the cubic beziers working how I want.

He is a small video showing a camera moving along a defined path.
