Background info:
Mystic dream is my cooperatvie rpg game which has been in development for a while now. I originally started out as an online rpg but moved onto a more coop style gameplay for a more realistic and fun goal. Now players can experience an openeded rpg experience fighting along side their buddies or against them. The rpg is situated in a world called Raethe(pronounced wraith) where 6 mayjor races fight for territory and control. Mystic Dream is designed to be an episodic style game player where new items, quests and areas will be added on a regular basis through small downloads meaning
content is almost unlimited.

Features and functions:
Players can create a character from the 6 different races ranging from the semi god like rulers of Raethe to the humble but skillful rangers. As ive said before the focus is on a player constructing a weapon at the start of their life and building, modifying and enhancing it with a variety of materials and components. Players will aquire these components throught the game and each will have different effects and looks to allow the player a great deal of customisation to their equiptment.

Races:
Ultimates
Dragonairs
Rangers
Elementals
The Shadow
Tritonians

Whats done:
-Full 3rd person camera control with zooming and angle changes
-creating players and reloading them
-full menu system
-fully working inventory
-basic melee attacks
-different classes
-buying items from store npcs
-begginings of store system
-begginings of faction system
-combat with monsters and npcs have different states
-collision via nuclear glory
-using health and magical potions
-players gain experience from combat and grow
-players and npcs respawn when killed
-basic multiplayer

To do:
-complete quest and faction systems
-implement real town models
-implement real npcs and race models
-allow players physical customisation
-finalise multiplayer
-improve magical abilities

It could be but I think its the second. Hopefully this will be it the final design for the game. The first few towns are in the works and ive got a heap of concept art ready to be modelled and implemented.

Hey guys the games coming along nicely I have been working on the quest system and Ive got a mini menu that pops up for the npc when you talk to them it allows you to ask them if they have any quests or if you wanna buy something etc. The quests have their own file format while I have the basics of it laid out im still improving and tweaking it to perfection more details soon.

More updates I have mostly finished the new magic system. It saves out the powers players have and then reloads them. Then their properties are loaded in from a seperate file and used in the engine. This will allow for me to tweak the properties with my editor and release new updates without recompiling the engine. Picture attached to demonstrate how you can talk to npcs and ask for services etc.

Work continues Im on a bug hunt at the moment I have also started using upgrade 6 and its gone very smoothly. So far I have fixed a few mayjor bugs and optimised the character files for speed more will come soon. The first village the elementals village is being made dunno how long it will take but it will be awesome cause Ive got lots of concept and refrence images for my modeller. If anyone knows a good weapon or character artist then please refer me because I need at least one real character and a few staff weapons modeled I have plenty of concept images to use if need be.

The magic system is coming into its own now I have created some functions that will create different effects based on the data you input. So I can create new powers using my special editor and they will be loaded and used within the game and the engine does all the work. I just have to add on the functionality for animation textures and the magic loading/creating will be complete. More updates soon...

Im Keemo1000, and I have approved this work of art as follows:

Graphics

-Models = Awesome
-Lightmapping = great, but its kind of missing something, maybe position it somewhere else where the game can get more light, but not too much turning it cartoony

-GUI = Just like the rest say, excellent.

Keep up the good work and make sure you tell me of a demo once its out... Over and out.

Ok I havnt posted here much recently but I have a few new screens and updates. The game is coming along nicely i have finally fixed most of the bugs with the quest system and now you can complete a quest right through. I still need to finish the system so you can save out your quest data. I have added in some lighting now it all comes from one mayjor source being the sun and it shines on all that is close enough. There will be some shadows used but I need find out how to use them properly first. Also there are 3 types of magic available and 4 different spells currently available one of the new spells is a roller bug summon.

I have been busy and have added in the beggining of the cooperative multiplayer system. Players can host sessions on their local network and others can check the network for available sessions and connect to them. So far just seeing each other and moving around but ill quickly add in animations and chat as I already have some chat code. screenshot attached...

How much will it cost, or will it be free?

Multiplayer coop is mostly done now players can register or join games and see each other, fight monsters etc just a few issues to correct. The elemental village is coming along from what I hear but still not quite ready. I think i may have actually fixed my menu but not sure. More updates soon.

Thanks it doesnt look like much yet but once my graphical upgrade has been completed and intergrated it will look like a very proffesional game and im not talking about an excessive amount of money plus you get an unlimited amount of upgrades and expansions. The engine is very functional but I want the elemental village complete first before I release a demo.

Although thats nice music I dont want to use it for this game. I though I would reveal a bit more depth to the game play. Since I feel there is a lack of creativity and originality of rpgs and other games I have designed lots of different things. The player will have many scenarios to play out for example if an npc player summons an ancient power and then uses it to burn, pillage etc and then you fight and defeat him you will have choices....You will be able to dispose of his body, take his items and weapon etc but also you could ressurect the same power he did and continue his rampage. When you take his weapon you can break it down into components and use those components in your weapon or sell them. Since your part of a certain race anything their involved in could affect you for example if one race decides to start a war you may need to make a choice as to if your going to support your own race, stand against them on the battle field or just hide away in a safe location. Even more depth exists because many towns and races have customs and traditions that you can play a part in sometimes it is necessary for a quest and much much more.

Thanks hopefully ill be able to pull it all together with some nice graphics, music, sounds and an great engine to create a cool gaming experience. Now updates well lots really I have the territory capturing system put in how it works is as I said a flag or a key symbol of every town or area will represent it and players must capture this to take control of the land....Obviously to prevent further attacks you must finish of all bad guys to Lots of issues I had not seen are fixed and the quest system grows all the time i beleive I have finalised the file format mostly. More updates soon guys.
