I am fairly new to DarkBasic and am trying to use Anim8or to create a simple
animation. I exported a sequence to a .3ds file and converted it to a .x file then loaded it in DarkBasic and looped it, like this:

load object "anim.x",1:loop object 1

I get an error saying the object cannot animate. Just for kicks, I also loaded
the .3ds file, but got the same error, what am I doing wroung?

I believe you must create animation via DB first before you loop object ...

You should be able to loop or play an object if it has it's own animation data in the file anyway. I think anim8or doesn't export 3ds object animation well if at all, and so I just export a limb structure and do all my animation within DB. To animate in DB, the anim8or file must have at least 2 separate meshes, which are accessed in DB using the limb commands (rotate limb, offset limb). However all the limbs seem to be automatically connected to the root, and there seems to be no way to break a limb hierarchy in DB, or connect things to more than one limb.

Once I was but the learner,

Thanks again for your help
I looked in the help section of DB at some examples of limb commands and animation and I think I basically understand how to animate in DB now.
I also found that the limbs were automatically connected to the root, but this actually helped me in some ways, and really pi**ed me off in others
