I'm sure everyone here hates AOL, but there's gotta be at least a few of us that hate myspace even more.

So instead of being one mass of blubbering idiots rambling about how much their life sucks, there will be two. GG

"Ein Volk, Ein Reich, Ein Führer"(One People, One Kingdom, One Leader)-Adolf Hitler.

Hey, im fine with these community sites, they keep people from using a whole domain name to talk about their boring life. But honestly, i think myspace has the lead, and will stay that way for a while.

Social networking is the new holy grail of internet services; everyone from Microsoft to AOL to Google is trying to make a 'MySpace killer' in one form or another.

95% of my friends use both AIM and MySpace so it'll be interesting to see what AOL can cook up to compete.

I highly doubt AOL can compete with Myspace, even with their installed user base. People already have Myspace and most people won't see a need for using AOL's service, which'll probably end up being a pay service if I know AOL. If they fight, my money is on Myspace by KO in the 3rd round. Even the people who use AOL don't like AOL.

abomination online meets mybrainspace

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself 

Doesn't Microsoft have something similar built with their MSN Messenger called My Space? I'm pretty sure I've heard of that... I do wonder how they possibly could think up such a creative name as that.

They simply integrated it into MSN Messenger recently, they've had MSN "My Space" for almost a decade now. Although they've had a few different names for it over the years; they've still had it called "My Space" longer than MySpace has been up... in-fact I'm sure the MySpace started as a piss-take site until people started using it seriously. Then Fox bought it out, which to me seems a little retarded.

No, Fox is smart to purchase Myspace. I'm just surprised nobody did it earlier. I can't imagine the revenue they're making just from the ads.

When's GoogleSpace coming out? They're already kicking up places like AlbinoBlackSheep and EbaumsWorld with Google Video, MySpace must be next.

With it being one of the top ten most visited sites on the internet and the most popular website among teenagers across the globe? $56 million was a freakin' bargain.

Exactly. I was first in line to purchase it, but my accountant advised me that the $56 million would be better spent on trying to buy-out Atari--- and, uh, Google stocks.

I just have to wonder, how a site with no product or paid service manages to rake in millions of dollars. I just cant imagine that many companies paying that much for a little banner on their page that nobody ever pays attention to, let alone click on it.

They also sell merchandise, and are a big thing in the pop rock music scene. They've got more than just the website to the name.
