I have this idea for a game, this guy called Sam the Snail, opens a website, asking people to give him money for a software product he will never give you, you stupidly comply, then he shuts down his website, after a few months of giving you crap excuses, and trying to get more people give him money, it is your job to send him emails, phone him and post on forums, you know he reads, and try to get your money back, and the game is won, when you finally find the rock he crawled under, and stamp on him.

It would help if you could think of anything to add to this story, it may make the game harder, if not impossible to win.

Oh yeh, I will be selling this game, after I release the EA version, which I will be charging for.

You gotta laugh, haven't you?

Shouldn't this be in Game Design Theory?

Nope, it's kinda sad that you guys trusted someone and they betrayed that trust in the manner at which they did.

I hope you guys eventually see retribution in someway be in return in funds spent to actual product. I know it has to be eating away at some of you since i know it would bothering me as well.

But hopefully there will be a light at the end of your tunnel in some form or another.

LOL, it was by way of a joke, I think it's a waste of time worrying about it.

I dont think he will come through, as I have said before, I would owe him an apology if he did.

By the way, Cobra_one has talked to Sam, he says he will email every one by Tuesday, I am not holding my breath.
And I am 9 and a half.

Tell me about it. I dropped over $40 CDN, then an extra $10 for "faster postal delivery". What a joke.

Not only did I not receive the product in a "fast" manner (over a month overdue), but it doesn't matter anyways as the installers are locked. What I received is an expensive paperweight.

Thankfully, because we are consumers, we can tell others not to purchase said software, and the author will likely lose more business than it would have cost to simply refund our money.

But I digress

Tell me about it. I've been ripped off of $300 USD before, and I have to say that was the stupidest thing I ever had to go through. It was a stupid e-bay scam, and, at 12, its not like $300 is the easiest thing to come up with. Between contacting authorities who wouldn't do anything, and trying to get some money back through paypal (which I only recieved a small portion back), it was a royal headache. Hopefully Sam will wisen up and realize that he has done wrong and instead of doing it again, he could get himself a real job for making his money rather than ripping off enthusiastic game developers trying to achieve their dreams.

death penalty for scams and large rewards for people who lead to there arrest would be the solution.

LOL. Hey, just make the game so that he's not under any rock. Then it's impossible to win. That way, it imitates life.

I'm so glad I didn't buy this thing. I don't know what his story is, but no matter what he's done everyone wrong. His conduct hurts every indie developer. I find it so odd, but perhaps it's me that's odd - I could never shirk on that self made responsibility.

since there is no way i can see that it was directed at you, i find it pretty disturbing that youd come to that conclusion

do you think theres some subconciouse thoughts making you say these things?

Ouch, that sucks--- sorry to hear. I was once ripped off on ebay as well, but thankfully I reported it to Paypal and they went after the dude (because it was under 45 days of the purchase).

The idiot was selling his Monty Python DVDs on ebay, and after I paid for them he disappeared. Not only that, but he removed his ebay account so I couldn't even leave negative feedback.

Thank goodness for Paypal insurance It took a while to get the money back, but I was happy to see it in the end.

What I read on sam, well last read, made it sound like it wasn't entirely his fault. Has this changed?

Doesn't the 'removal of an account' really mean that it is disabled, not deleted? What I am saying is that if he was practicing bad buisness ethics that he could be permenatly tracked because of it?
