I am trying to load a texture onto a flat plain and have the transparent parts of the image that were specified by the colorkey before the image was loaded be see-through on the plain. Is there a way to do this, or do I have to deal with having black where I want to have it transparent? Thanks in advance for any replies.

The preferred way is to use PNG texture images. Then you can have 255 levels of transparency, rather than ON/OFF style transparency. And don't forget to SET OBJECT TRANSPARENCY obj, 1

DDS will do the same thing and be so much smaller in filesize and retain mimapping as well.

nvidia has a free exporter / importer for photoshop
